Kek lapis legit has its root in Indonesia and kek lapis legit mean 'sweet layer cake'. Recently I found a nice kek lapis from Amboi.
AMBOI! was founded by a full-time homemaker, Jenny who has a passion for baking hearty cakes and cookies. An avid baker purely driven by interest and passion since twelve, Mama Jenny was experienced in baking the classic Indonesian cakes – the Lapis Legit and Bika Ambon for 11 years since 2009.
I get to try their Lapis Legit Coffee and Lapis Legit Original. Amboi's lapis legit cake has a much more natural shade of brown. The cake is luscious and velvety with a good bite, and imbued with nice flavour. Its widely-spaced brown and egg-yellow stripes are satisfyingly uniform, and its texture decadently dense, moist and rich without being cloying. I'm impressed with its depth of flavour: it’s a perfect union of what tastes like premium butter and a just-right dash of perfumey spices, like a coy spritz of a sensuous scent.

**Donut Pisang**

Tanpa telur ternyata lembut sekali
Bahan:
***_ 250 g pisang ambon Bersih tanpa kulit,(2 pisang)lembutkan.
- 100 Ml susu cair tawar agak hangat.
- 50 g unsalted butter,Mentega tawar.
- 1 sdt garam
- 500 g All purpose flour/Tepung pro sedang
- 25 g gula pasir
- 2 1/2 sdt ragi roti (saf instans)
1 1/5 sdt Bread Improver
-----Cara:
Larutkan Ragi dengan sedikit susu tambahin gula sedikit aduk aduk lalu diamkan selama 5 ke 8 menit.sisa susu dimasukkan nanti.
Tepung campur dengan garam dan gula,bread Improver tambahkan Butter ditepung remas remas dgn Jari sampai campur,lalu masukkan cairan Ragi dan sisa susu serta Pisang yang dilembutkan.Aduk dengan tangan sampai semua rata.(ini adonan agak lembek)lalu aduk terus sampai 8 ke 10 menit.lalu rehatkan adonan selama 1 jam biar ngembang dua kali lipat.
---Setelah satu jam kempiskan dan pindahkan ke permukaan yg sudah ditabur sedikit tepung,Untuk bikin donut, bulatkan adonan dgn ditepuk tepuk tepung luarmnya biar tidak lengket lalu Pipihkan adonan menjadi tipis lalu bentuk donut dan diamkan selama 15 menit lalu digoreng dengan api kecil.

INGREDIENTS (makes 20 mini rice balls)
A. Dough
100 g glutinous rice flour
15 g rice flour
30 - 35 g sweet potato (boiled and smashed)
50 - 100 ml warm water (40 - 50 degrees C)
B. Filling
70 gram mung beans/ yellow beans
20 - 25 g sugar to taste
30 g coconut oil (or normal cooking oil)
30 - 40 g shredded coconut (optional)
C. Other ingredients
300 ml oil (for frying)
30 g sesame seeds (for half recipe)
or
5 - 6 ginger slices
40 g brown sugar or palm sugar (for half recipe)
TROUBLESHOOTINGS
1. If the dough puff very little and is hard after being fried, it's likely that you have fried them on too high heat
2. If the dough is hard and chewy, it's likely that you have fried them on too low heat
3. If the balls crack or break when being fried, it might be because there are air pockets between dough and filling OR a part of the ball exposes to the air, i.e., not covered by oil for too long

(ENG sub & Tiếng Việt) Honeycomb cake is a very popular cake in many Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia... This honeycomb cake is made of tapioca starch, coconut milk and palm sugar, giving the cake a soft and chewy texture with wonderful flavor from coconut and palm sugar.
INGREDIENTS
150 g coconut milk (NOT coconut cream)
75 g palm sugar or brown sugar
100 g tapioca starch
1/2 tsp instant dry yeast
3 eggs (150 g)
NOTEs:
- This recipe requires exact amount of ingredients hence I don't include measurement in volume, i.e. cup, tbsp, etc. as usual.
- You can use canned or fresh coconut milk.
- Palm sugar or brown sugar gives the cake distinct sweet taste, don't substitute it with white sugar. The amount of sugar may vary depending on your taste.
- YEAST is instant dry, which does not require activation. Yeast can't be substituted by baking powder or baking soda
- You can add vanilla, pandan extract or use lime leaves, lemongrass... if you'd like to make traditional Indonesian Bika Ambon
