Does God Love You?
“He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love. By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:8-10 WEB)
There is only one reliable way to know that God loves you.
When you receive a pay raise at work, that is not the proof that He loves you.
If you come down with a flu, that is not proof that He does not love you or is angry with you.
All these different ‘happenings’ are not how we measure God’s love for us.
The apostle John wrote the correct answer clearly for our benefit: “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
If you want to know that God loves you, just look at what He did for you at the cross.
God delivered up Jesus His only begotten Son, placed all your sins upon Him, and punished Him in your place.
God loves you so much that He does not want you to bear the punishment for sin. Jesus endured God’s wrath so that we who believe that Jesus is Lord are spared from punishment.
This truth will never change.
So on good days and bad days, you can lean on God’s love for you that never decreases.
God’s love is at the same level of intensity for all of us since the proof is the same. Jesus died for everyone’s sins.
Yes, everyone. Including the worst sinners that people deem unworthy of being saved.
This means that we don’t need to be jealous of one another. Comparison is toxic. God loves you just as much as He loves me. If you have faith in His word, you will experience the fulfillments of His promises.
“What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32 WEB)
Just visualize what happened at the cross and you can say, “Yes, this is how I know that God is loving and gracious towards me—because He delivered up His precious Son for me.”
If God did not withhold His best from you, then He will not deprive you of any good thing. Just as you got saved through faith, also receive good things through faith. That is the way under the New Covenant of Grace!

God is Not Like Man
“Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?” They answered him, “If this man weren’t an evildoer, we wouldn’t have delivered him up to you.” Pilate therefore said to them, “Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law.” Therefore the Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,” that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.” (John 18:29-32 WEB)
Look how the religious leaders of Israel had murder in their hearts but were unable to do it because they were restricted by the Law.
They keep the Law outwardly just for the public eye, and looked for ways to get around the Law to execute their murderous schemes.
While they looked for any loophole to commit murder, God used His infinite wisdom and knowledge to find a way to save mankind.
Under the Law, God said that the soul who sins must die. In Paul’s words, “the wages of sin is death”.
There was only one way for us to be saved because we cannot fulfill the demands of the Law by ourselves. Someone else must die in our place as a substitute.
This person must be a member of mankind, sinless, and his life has to be worthy enough to pay for all the sins of the world.
That is why the only begotten Son of God had to become a man, bleed, and die as our atoning sacrifice for sins.
Today, we are saved, blessed, and favored by God not because of our own obedience towards the Law, but because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. His sinless, divine blood is a massive overpayment for all our sin debts, purchasing every spiritual blessing of God for us.
I read someone write that “your sin can hinder your prayers”. If that were true, then no Christians would have any answered prayers because we still fail God daily, in thoughts and deeds. We may not be able to live a completely sinless life, but thankfully our prayers are answered based on Jesus’ obedience at the cross. His shed blood is the only reason why we can always enjoy God’s favor.
Let no one deceive you that sin is causing God to ignore your prayers. If God is omniscient, then He already knew all the sins you would commit in your life, and He still chose to let Jesus bear the punishment for your sins at the cross.
What hinders us from receiving God’s promises today is only unbelief. When you have a bad opinion of God and see Him angry, demanding, and unapproachable, you will be unable to freely receive all that Jesus died for you to enjoy.
Paul taught that no one can be justified through the works of the Law. Not before salvation, and not after salvation. God is so gracious that He made us the righteousness of God in Christ when we believed in Jesus as Lord.
Abba God has the perfect, righteous reason to lavish His goodness upon you. Through your prayers of intercession, the people around you are also blessed.
Some well-meaning Christians want to live godly through keeping the Law as a moral guideline, but it only serves to stir up sin’s rebellion in our flesh. They will experience short-lived victories ,only to fall back into sinful patterns when the willpower runs out.
When you place your faith in God after receiving His Word, you will be progressively transformed to live a righteous life. The goal of godly living is the same, but the only way to get there is by beholding Jesus and trusting in Him.
Live by the new and better covenant that is built upon better promises, and you will reign in life through the one Lord Jesus Christ!

Wait for the Right Time
“He restored the chief cup bearer to his position again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand; but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet the chief cup bearer didn’t remember Joseph, but forgot him.” (Genesis 40:21-23 WEB)
We all want our season of promotion and blessedness to come immediately. However, before that season, there is usually a quiet one of preparation.
In Joseph’s life, he was in prison for a crime he did not commit. After interpreting the dreams of two royal subjects, Joseph told them to remember him before Pharaoh, but the chief butler forgot about Joseph.
Just like that, two years went by. Can you imagine how disappointed Joseph must have felt? He might have thought, “Am I ever getting out of this prison, or will I spend my whole life in here?”
You may be feeling the same way. Your circumstances may be like a prison whereby you are existing, but not truly living the “life more abundantly” that Jesus died for you to have.
For a person who has a sickness, the abundant life would look like a healthy body that can do anything without feeling weakness or pain.
For a person who is lonely, the abundant life would look like having a spouse that he can share his life with.
For a person who is poor and in debt, the abundant life would look like having all debts paid and having more than enough savings to even be a blessing to others.
Was Joseph destined to stay in prison for the rest of his life? Let’s read the story:
“At the end of two full years, Pharaoh dreamed: and behold, he stood by the river...In the morning, his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all of Egypt’s magicians and wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh. Then the chief cup bearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, “I remember my faults today. Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, me and the chief baker. We dreamed a dream in one night, I and he. We dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. There was with us there a young man, a Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard, and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams. To each man according to his dream he interpreted. As he interpreted to us, so it was. He restored me to my office, and he hanged him.” Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. He shaved himself, changed his clothing, and came in to Pharaoh. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It isn’t in me. God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”” ;Genesis 41:1, 8-16 WEB)
So two years after interpreting the chief butler’s dream, Joseph was freed from prison and brought before Pharaoh.
The moment of Pharaoh having the two prophetic dreams signaled God’s appointed time for Joseph’s deliverance. Those two dreams were Joseph’s door of hope in the midst of his trouble. The gift of interpreting dreams was the key in Joseph’s hand.
But why did God take so long before freeing Joseph? Technically, He could have given the dream to Pharaoh earlier than that.
“But Yahweh was with Joseph, and showed kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. The keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever they did there, he was responsible for it. The keeper of the prison didn’t look after anything that was under his hand, because Yahweh was with him; and that which he did, Yahweh made it prosper.” (Genesis 39:21-23 WEB)
In the prison, Joseph was put in charge of the other prisoners—it was a leadership role. During this time of quiet, mundane, routine living, God was sculpting Joseph into a man fit to be the prime minister of Egypt, to lead the whole nation of Egypt.
Perhaps you are also in a season of quiet preparation. Your talents are unknown to the world, but God is training you for the larger role He has prepared for you—your eventual destiny.
Many heroes in the Bible went through a quiet season like that: Moses tended sheep in the land of Midian before he was sent to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt. David shepherded his father’s sheep and killed a lion and a bear before he had the opportunity to fight Goliath. Gideon was a coward before God called him and turned him into a valiant hero who routed the Midianites with just three hundred men. Jesus spent thirty years in obscurity, being in close communion with the Father until it was time to begin His public ministry.
If the chief butler had told Pharaoh about Joseph any earlier, Pharaoh would have just brushed it aside. The dreams had to come first.
While you are waiting, God has already prepared the equivalent of Pharaoh’s dream to take you to a higher level at the right time. Waiting time with God is not wasted time. He is training you every day, little by little—with each Scripture, each prayer, each interaction with others, and each challenge that you overcome through faith.
If you are feeling delayed, just like Joseph was for two years in the prison, remember that delay is not denial! God is still sculpting you, and when you are ready, He will display His masterpiece for all to see.
