Even though I agree with the author's disagreement, I would actually disagree in a stronger tone. Such meetings themselves, even if done with the best of motives and messages, their format is emotionally and intellectually manipulative. This method came from Charles Finney and his ilk who spearheaded the Second Awakening which to me was far inferior to the First primarily because of its anti-intellectual bend, resulting in the sort of crippled evangelicalism we have right now. That isn't a historical happy ending...People ought to read history more to understand how things work instead of counting heads...Having said this, I appreciate those who serve with a pure heart, not having had the above historical data and theological reflection.
