I guess after portfolio day there’s a mix feeling of accomplishing something but also another confusion about the future. Nothing is certain, but also a lot to look forward to. But thank goodness I have nice friends to talk to and get some hugs from, and move on.

Also the class I went to was Javanese Gamelan. I’m playing Gong (which is like a base) so it’s really meditating. I’ll find time to draw more manga about this! This class and the Balinese dance class are probably the best classes I’ve ever taken in Calarts.

Anyway tomorrow’s a new day to keep working on film!

Aside from the yoga, my time at Shanti Toya Ashram was spent exploring the Balinese culture.

We participated in a village experience, watched Barong dance and tried Balinese dancing ourselves. I finally learned about the Balinese offerings - channag - that we see everywhere.

It was the best wellness + culture experience and I'm missing the gang!...

Selamat malam! Have arrived in Bali for a short but busy visit.

Look forward to meeting Presiden Joko Widodo for our 3rd Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat. Both sides take turns hosting this – we first met in Semarang, Central Java in 2016, followed by Singapore last year, when we celebrated RISING 50 – 50 years of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore.

Our relations are strong. Beyond diplomatic ties, we also have close defence cooperation and regular joint military exercises. Following the recent terrible earthquakes and tsunami in Sulawesi, we sent two The Republic of Singapore Air Force C-130 aircraft with humanitarian supplies to assist in disaster relief. The Singapore Civil Defence Force has also deployed officers to help in the recovery efforts. We will continue to work closely with the local authorities for as long as our help is needed.

Aside from the Leaders’ Retreat, I will also be co-chairing the ASEAN Leaders’ gathering with President Jokowi. Concurrently, the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group are holding their Annual Meetings here, so ASEAN Leaders will also be meeting heads of these organisations. We have a lot to do. – LHL

Panyembrama is a form of secular Balinese dance designed by I Wayan Berata and first performed in 1971. This dance includes movements of several Balinese sacred dances.

Kecak Dance is said to originate from a Balinese ancient ritual called Sanghyang, aimed as a form of exorcism or to repel evil spirits in which dancers fall into a trance. ... The dance can also be found at Tanah Lot, GWK Cultural Park, Pura Dalem Ubud, Padang Tegal Stage, Batubulan, Umadewi Stage, and more.
