H O M E 1:
Yesterday, I joined PUAK Payong to observe and learn how they go about managing cases that are brought to their attention, in hope to be able to do it independently in the future and hopefully, in my own home state.
Case 1:
A single mother of 4, youngest child being 3 months old. She gave her third child (daughter) away as her husband had run out on them (again) and she couldn’t afford to look after her 3rd child.
She is seeking help to assist her in her divorce case. She wants to file Fasakh (divorce from her druggie husband). She needs RM150 to file in her application- that is not inclusive of her travels to town in order to get the administration done.
On top of that, it is time taken away from her daily job as a “pembungkus nasi” or “rice wrapper”. She earns RM30 daily and she tries to work every day so she can earn her maximum pay of RM900.
Rental of her home is RM150. She still has some overdue electricity bills to pay and she turns a blind eye to the holes on her floor — covering it up with an old furniture to prevent her children from accidentally falling in.
She needs to file the divorce so she can have the official status as a single mom. At least, with that “title”, she can then apply for welfare at the Jabatan Kebajikan Malaysia.
She’s very pretty. Dejected but pretty. I could tell she wanted the interview done quickly, so she could continue earning her keep wrapping rice.

Video Title: The Bizarre South Korean Bank Heist
"Daejeon, South Korea, 2019 — 140 kilometers south of Seoul. The bank robber was getting ready to enter the bank. He was well-prepared, composed, and not at all afraid of being caught. You see, he had been planning the heist for a while, and had become quite familiar with the bank’s habits and procedures. He had done the math and knew it would take police just four minutes to arrive at the scene once alerted. This, of course, wasn’t ideal — a potential four minute window seemed risky — but if all were to go according to plan the reward would be worth it; he would be set for life. As part of his preparation, he had procured a very specific weapon (a kind of knife) from a trusty vendor which, really, he had no intention of using. With the threat alone being sufficient enough, this was merely for show. And so, after months of planning, it was time. He headed through the doorway into the bank. The heist was on..."

Video Title: This Is The Greatest Bank Heist in Chinese History
"Handan, China. October 10th, 2006. It was getting dark. The vault manager of the Agricultural Bank of China was on edge. He was afraid. He felt something wasn’t quite right. Yes there were two security guards patrolling the grounds, which made him feel safer, but as vault manager he needed to be sure himself. He checked the printer room, the conference room, there was no one there, no sign of trouble. Then he entered the vault… where everything was also fine - the money was there and the bank’s security system was down. In fact, everything was just as he planned..."

Video Title: How North Korea Held the Greatest Pro Wrestling Event in History
"Pyongyang, 1995. The lone American made his way down a long, dingy hallway, past several North Korean officials. He was nervous, afraid of what was to come - not just because of the constant surveillance he was under, but the state of the entire country. You see North Korea was in the midst of a devastating famine, with hundreds of thousands of its citizens suffering and dying from starvation and illnesses. He didn’t know what to expect, but he was there for a reason, and he had a job to do. At the entrance, he got his cue, and with one final breath, he stepped out, into what was a sea of humanity. Now this wasn’t just any crowd. This was a 190,000 North Koreans who were conditioned to see Americans as evil - who did not know pro wrestling was staged, that it was predetermined and choreographed, and here was a man - a blond-haired American man - who embodied everything they were legitimately told to hate. This man was the legendary Ric Flair, one of the greatest American professional wrestlers of all time, and at this moment he was wondering what he had gotten himself into. Now this happened in April, 1995, but the events that led to this, actually started 11 months earlier..."
