"Mama, I never knew you like beads."
Yes, kids, I guess there are many things you still don't know me. Perhaps, over time, I forgot about them myself too. The beauty of having more free time in the past two months meant I was able to rediscover some of my old hobbies, including reading, crocheting and beading.
I took out my bead collection, which has been stored away for over a decade, recently and the girls said "That is a lot of colourful beads, we can start a shop!" Haha. Yup, I used to love beading and bought all sorts of beads and jewellery accessories in Sweden so that I could make them as gifts for friends. It took me a long time to figure out each pattern but I remember the sense of achievement I felt with every pair of earrings, phone strap or charms that was completed, not to mention how each of them warmed hearts and brought smiles.
The kids recently saw how I used hours of time and stayed up late and to cut and twist wires, thread beads, tie knots and put everything together one by one. I hope it reminded all of us on how we can always find time to do the things we love, that it is never too late to rekindle a passion, that a token of love and appreciation can be small but sincere, and that all good things take time.
