Grow Up Before you Go Up!
“Abraham was one hundred years old when his son, Isaac, was born to him. Sarah said, “God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me.” She said, “Who would have said to Abraham, that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.” The child grew, and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.” (Genesis 21:5-8 WEB)
If God makes you wait a long time for your manifested blessing, it is because what He has prepared for you is the very best—it’s going to shock you! In this period of waiting, it is training time. If you don’t grow in spiritual maturity, there is no way you can handle the very best without it wrecking you. Grow up before you go up!
You are not just going to catch up with your peers. In one launch, you will overtake them all. Everyone will be shocked at God’s goodness in your life!
When God planned Sarah’s life, He probably thought how He was going to shock everyone by making this barren woman give birth to a son at the age of ninety (she was ten years younger than Abraham).
Not just any child, but an ancestor of Jesus Christ! Isaac was handsome, strong (he probably taught Esau how to hunt), and a child of promise. Sarah was not just any pregnant woman. This woman whose name means “princess” was renewed in her youth to look like a beautiful woman in her prime that was desired by a king for his harem. At ninety, she was able to nurse her son and raise him herself. That is what I call an AMAZING blessing!
Don’t pray to settle for less, saying, “God, just bless me with something like what that person has. A bit lesser will do. I am not asking for much.”
Be patient, and seek Him first. I can’t emphasize this enough: grow, grow, grow in the Grace of Christ. Prioritize His wisdom because that is the true treasure you need.
