“Hang off an anchor” Another one of those terms that sailors only ever use when in school. Its when a ship needs to take the anchor weight off, or detaching anchor from the chains for repair work/tow/buoy.
The rollers at the hawsepipe (not every ship has it there) were in bad condition and so we need to replace it with a new one.
Most the time its a dry-dock work as it is a combination of hot work and working aloft scaffolding.
But here on M.V. #Ywampng we take matters into our own hands. We prepared multiple hanging pendant and mooring ropes to take anchor weight off. Hang a bosun chair, hang some tool buckets, apply elbow grease and off we go. Took the crew full two days as some parts were fatigued/deformed. @ Daru
