Please respect the choice of our HEROES & HEROINES. Leave them alone.
Sports is for all and our athletes are our heroes and heroines. Some athletes have personally contacted me on this issue. I’m obligated to defend them as they are the nation’s assets.
This is alarming as the future of sports like gymnastics, diving, swimming, bodybuilding will be affected.
There are countless Muslim athletes who have contributed a lot of medals for the country including Farah Ann Hadi (gymnastics), Nur Dhabitah Sabri (diving) and Sazali Samad (bodybuilder).
These are sports Malaysia does well in with multiple medals being won in Commonwealth, Olympic, Asean and SEA games by these athletes.
Our very own HERO, Azizul Hasni Awang, a well-known world champion HERO cyclist hailing from Terengganu also achieved international recognition, regardless of his choice of outfit. I will stand with all of them regardless of their outfits. I am here because of them. Please leave them alone!

This has been the driving force behind my career: “Follow your dreams. Do know that it’s not easy, never easy but don’t give up. ”
Four Olympics, two World Championship Bronzes, Silvers at Commonwealth and Asian Games. 17 Sea Games Golds.
But it’s not about what you’ve done. It’s about what you’re doing an will do.
It’s still 8 hours a day, six days a week. Training my strength and stamina; polishing and perfecting my diving skills. There’s no slowing down.
As long as I’m hungry to win, I’ll work my heart out to compete at the highest levels. All out, all days, all the way to 2018 and beyond.
🙂

2014 started awesome until I suffered a bad left knee injury in the middle of the year. That injury cost me heavily as it would mean giving up on my 3m springboard event permanently and I face a further risk of skipping 3 other major competitions that year. I was advised to take time off for the rest of the year to recuperate. I was devastated by the news and felt like I have failed my team mate and my coach. This was a setback I could not afford. I had to get better fast no matter what and not let this injury weaken my spirit. I willed myself to get back on my feet after a week of bed rest. The training was tough and painful. I cried tears of frustration and feared that I will fail to regain my strength again. It was one step forward and two steps back but I kept pushing. Slowly, I felt stronger and was soon fit enough to compete again. I made it to the top 6 in the Diving World Cup competition in Shanghai and eventually secured 1 silver & 1 bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games and 1 bronze medal at the Asian Games. I couldn't be prouder of my achievements and was glad I didn’t give up despite my injury! So if you ever feel like failure is upon you, don’t give up!
