Words cannot describe how grateful i am for your visit @yvonbock!
Before she came, I was crying the last 2 days. Frustrated to death with nursing Layla. While we established a good night routine, day time is another story. She'll be awake at 8am, and stay awake all the way until 5pm, the whole time wanting to latch on me. She'd nurse for 2 mins and then fall asleep on my breast, when i put her down, she'd cry to latch again. Meanwhile everyone was telling me 'She is still hungry!' Goodness! My nips already felt like they were falling off from the constant latching for the last 5 hours! On top of that, i pumped and bottle fed to make sure she had substantial amount to drink. YET SHE STILL WANTED MORE. I was feeling so helpless.
I knew something was wrong in what i was doing. So i called Yvon for help immediately. Being the kind soul that she is, without hesitation, she gave up quality time w her family and arranged to come the nxt day.
When she analysed the way Layla latches on me. That's when she identified the issue. Layla's latch was good and strong. It was the way i positioned her. It did not allow her to latch deeply. Thus, my nips were bleeding. Thus, she was crying continuously bcos she could not get the deeper part of the milk. Which explains why she was gassy, bcos she was only getting the foremilk - which also doesn't keep her full for long. So techinical right! I mean who knew breastfeeding had so much to it?!
At the point of writing this post, Layla's already did 3 rounds of 3hrs of sleep. Omg.. i am soooo grateful! It was so mentally torturing. And i can't be more grateful for @yvonbock guidance. It also def boost my morale as a mother. I was so beaten and defeated the last few days!
So, thank you once again Yvon! Please come again soon. Layla and the cats loves you! When Layla met u for the first time, she welcomed you with a hearty laugh and constant eye contact. Like she knew u. Like she wants to express her gratitude. I know, bcos i feel exactly the same.
