The Power of Fasting and Prayer
God’s word reveals to us that fasting has many benefits, such as it being a channel of healing, health, answered prayers, and a great way to cast out unbelief from our hearts.
I'm sure that if God is leading you to fast, He is preparing you to receive a manifestation of blessing!
One benefit we are going to look at is increased sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s voice. We can sense God’s directions for our lives better when we fast.
When the disciples in the early church fasted, it seems like they became more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. They were able to receive God’s instructions and leading easier. It also helped them to make the right decision when faced with a big task.
“Now in the assembly that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them.” Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.” (Acts 13:1-3 WEB)
If you are at a crossroads in life and need to make an important decision, the Holy Spirit may lead you to fast to seek God for His guidance and wisdom.
I believe that fasting makes one’s spirit more in tune with the spiritual things of God so we're able to hear from Him with greater clarity.
This is likely because when we fast, we are denying the flesh of its desires and are more focused on the Spirit.
Whenever fasting is mentioned in the Bible, it is mostly combined with prayer. I would liken fasting to an amplifier, making your prayers more effective by casting out unbelief from your heart and also making you more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and what He wants you to pray for.
Do you need to receive wisdom to make an important decision? Maybe you feel like you can’t sense what God wants from you at this point in time. Perhaps it’s time to dedicate a fast to the Lord, and make it a season to receive and hear from Him.
“Let the husband give his wife the affection owed her, and likewise also the wife her husband. The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife. Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn’t tempt you because of your lack of self-control. But this I say by way of concession, not of commandment.” (1 Corinthians 7:3-6 WEB)
The Apostle Paul taught that there are seasons whereby we should put aside fleshly indulgences like physical intimacy with your spouse, and just commit time to fasting and prayer.
The last time I fasted, I had to make a decision whether or not to listen to someone who was many years older than me. He preached God’s word locally and overseas.
After my fast, we met up. I could clearly sense that he was speaking nonsense, and I could easily discern the motivations that were shaping his words. It was obvious that his words were not to be trusted.
If I had listened to him I might have wasted precious years of my life doing something that was not God’s will for me.
Don’t overlook the powerful combination of fasting and prayer. We need to hear clearly from God, especially in difficult seasons and moments of standing at crossroads.

【Ingredients】7in(18cm)×3in(8cm)loaf pan
●Butter cake
4.2oz Unsalted butter
3.5oz Granulated sugar
3.5oz Whole egg
4.2oz Cake flour
1tsp Baking powder
2oz Oranges marmalade(or Orange peel)
1 tbsp Grand marnier
●Syrup
1 and a half tbsp Water 1 tbsp Granulated sugar
1 tbsp Grand marnier
【Directions】
●Make Amanatsu oranges marmalade

●Make Butter cake
Preparation: Beat the egg well.
Line the cake pan with parchment paper.
Preheat the oven to 356 °F/180℃.
Bring the eggs and butter to room temperature.
①Chop marmalade.
mix marmalade and grand marnier,set aside.
②Water and sugar together. (microwave 600 W 30 sec.) Mix it well. Add grand marnier,set aside.
③Cream the butter until smooth. Add granulated sugar and Mix well.
Mix it with a whisk until white and fluffy (for 5 mins).
Until light and fluffy.
④Add the egg to the butter in 5-6 parts.
Mix thoroughly after each addition until creamy.
***Please warm the egg in hot water until room temperature if it's cold.
⑤Add the sifted flour and baking powder.
Fold it until powderiness disappears and gets glossy a little.
⑥Add marmalade and fold.
⑦Pour the batter into a paper-lined cake tin,(Spray lightly with water.) and bake at 356 °F/180℃ for about 38 minutes.
*Note: I spread the middle part thinner and the edges thicker.
When it has been in the oven for 10 minutes, make a vertical slit down the middle.
Insert a bamboo skewer and when it comes out clean, it's done.
⑧Drop the pan lightly to prevent the cake from shrinking.
Remove the cake from the pan while it's warm.
Brush butter cake with syrup.
Seal it with plastic wrap.(This will make the cake moist.)
Let it sit for 5 hours or more at room temperature. Done!
*Pound cakes taste delicious after 2-3 days.
*Please bring the eggs to room temperature before using them If they are still cold, they will make the butter cold, and make the mixture separate easily.
(The reason why eggs and butter should be room temperature.

●バターケーキを作る
準備:
卵とバターは必ず室温にする。
マーマレードは刻んでおく。
卵は溶いて、100g量る。
型にクッキングシートを敷いておく。
オーブンは180度に予熱する。
①マーマレードは刻んでおく。
マーマレードにグランマルニエを加えて混ぜておく。
②水と砂糖を合わせ、電子レンジ 600W 30秒加熱後、混ぜて砂糖が溶けたら、グランマルニエを加えて置いておく。
③バターに砂糖を加えてゴムベラでなじませたら、泡立て器に持ち替えて白っぽくふんわりするまで5分位混ぜる。
***腕が疲れるくらいしっかりと泡立てるようなつもりでまぜてください。ハンドミキサーがあるかたは使ってください。
④溶いた卵を5~6回に分けて加えその都度しっかりと混ぜる。
***卵が冷たい場合は、溶き卵をボウルに入れボウルの底を軽くぬるめのお湯につけ、室温に戻します、温めすぎないように気を付けます。バターと卵が同じくらいの温度だと綺麗に混ざります。⑤薄力粉とベーキングパウダーをふるい入れ
粉っぽさがなくなり、少し艶が出てくるまでよく混ぜる
⑥マーマレードを加えて混ぜる。
⑦型紙を敷いた型に生地を入れ、霧吹きでかるく水を吹きかけ、180℃のオーブンで約38分焼く。*注: 真ん中を薄く、端を厚くするように生地をならす。
10分焼いたところで、濡らしたナイフで真ん中に縦に切り込みを入れると焼き上がりが綺麗に割れますが、オーブンの温度が下がるので
急いで出来ないようなら、やらなくてもok
焼き上がりの目安はしっかりと焼けてそこから少し沈んだくらいの生地の高さになれば大丈夫です。
型をもって揺らした時に中央が揺れるようだとまだ完全に中まで火が入っていません。
割れたところも焼き色がつくくらいまで焼きます。
⑧焼き上がったら焼き縮みを防ぐために20cm高さから型ごと落とす。
温かいうちにケーキを取り出し、刷毛でシロップを打つ。
粗熱が取れたらラップするかビニール袋に入れてそのまま室温で5時間以上置いておく。(これでケーキがしっとりします)
*卵は室温に戻すのを忘れずに。冷えたまま使うと、バターが冷えて分離しやすくなります。
*粗熱をとり、ラップに包んでおくとしっとりします。パウンドケーキは2〜3日後がおいしいです。
*洋酒が苦手なかたはオレンジの果汁などを煮詰めて使ってもok
シロップを打つことで生地はさらにしっとりします。
*グランマルニエはオレンジの香りのリキュールです。
加えることでよりオレンジの風味が増して生地に深みが出ます。
お菓子は加えた材料分の味わいになります。
ぜひ一度は洋酒を使ったバターケーキも作ってもらえたら、
バターケーキの虜になると思います。

保存方法
●焼いた当日は粗熱が取れたらラップにくるむかビニール袋に入れる。
少し経つと水分がたまるので、ラップやビニール袋を取り変えるなどすると良いです。翌日にカットします。
(完全にそのまま冷ますよりもこの方がしっとりします)
●夏場は冷蔵庫の野菜室で4日ほど保存可能、それ以上は冷凍しましょう。
ただし冷えるとバター生地なので生地がしまって固くなるため、食べる時は室温に戻して食べます。
●冬の時期は暖房のない部屋で4-5日は美味しく食べることが出来ます。
●混ぜ込む具材、水分の多いものに変えたりした場合は日持ちはしませんのでご注意ください。また手作りのお菓子は保存剤や防腐剤などが入らないので市販の物とは違います。その点も十分にご留意ください。
●プレゼントで誰かに送りたいときは、宅急便はクール(冷蔵)便で。
夏も冬もこの方が安心して送ることが出来ます。
●ラッピングは翌日に食べるならOPP袋に入れて。
また、脱酸素剤をガス袋の中に入れシーラーで留めれば、酸化を防いでくれるのでより美味しさをキープ出来ます。

Beef Tartare by Jimmy's Table
If you know me, you know I love my beef tartare. It's something about raw beef that gets me excited, and whenever I see this on a menu, I always order it. This is one of my favorite dishes to eat when dining out. Making this dish is much easier than it looks. My version is a bit elevated with more ingredients to give it more layers. I hope you like it!
Ingredients 食材:
10-16 ounces of raw beef tenderloin or sirloin (沙朗)
2 tablespoons of finely minced shallots (生紅蔥頭)
3 tablespoons of fried shallots (炸紅蔥頭)
1 tablespoon of capers (酸豆)
2 tablespoons of Whole grain mustard (顆粒芥末醬)
2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard (傳統芥末醬)
1 tablespoon of Horseradish (optional) (西洋山葵)
2 tablespoons of Sriracha chili sauce (是拉差香甜辣椒醬)
2 tablespoons of Balsamic vinegar (巴薩米克醋)
2 tablespoons of Extra virgin olive oil (橄欖油)
Black pepper - for taste (黑胡椒)
Salt - for taste (鹽)
Finishing Ingredients 撒料調味:
Arugula (芝麻葉)
Balsamic vinegar (巴薩米克醋)
Extra virgin olive oil (橄欖油)
Parmesan cheese (帕瑪森起司)
Crackers (saltines or wheat crisps) or toasted french bread slices (薄脆餅乾or法國吐司)
Raw egg (yoke only) (生蛋黃)
STEP 1
Prepare the beef for cutting. If the beef is already frozen, then let it defrost a little. If the beef is already defrosted, put the beef in the freezer for 15-20 minutes so that the meat freezes a little and is hard to easily slice. If the beef is too soft (aka defrosted all the way), then it will be really hard to cut the beef into fine slices, strips and cubes. By the time you finish making the dish, the beef will be perfectly cold to eat.

Cut beef slices about 1-2 mm thick. Then take the slices and cut them into 1-2 mm strips. Lastly, turn the beef around and cut the strips into small beef cubes/pieces. Put beef into a large mixing bowl.

STEP 3
In the bowl, add in 2 tablespoons of whole grain mustard, 2 tablespoons of dijon mustard, 1 tablespoons of horseradish, 3 tablespoons finely minced shallots, 3 tablespoons of fried shallots.

接著開始加入調味至碗中:2湯匙顆粒芥末醬、2湯匙傳統芥末醬、1湯匙西洋山葵、3湯匙生紅蔥頭、3湯匙炸紅蔥頭。
STEP 4
Add in 2 tablespoons of Extra virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons of Balsamic vinegar, 2 tablespoons of Sriracha chili sauce and 1 tablespoon of capers. Add 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt and black pepper. Finally mix everything together evenly.

將芝麻葉瀝乾,擺放在盤子中間,用金屬的圓形模型放在盤子中間、生菜上面,將預攪拌好的牛肉填滿模型,接著將模型取掉。

Carefully crack an egg and separate the egg white and egg yoke. Carefully place the egg yoke on top of the beef tartare.

Shred some parmesan cheese on top. Grind a bit of black pepper for taste and plating. Place a spoonful of whole grain mustard on the plate and add a few crackers to the side.

磨一些帕瑪森起司、黑胡椒在整道菜的上面,再放一匙的顆粒芥末醬在旁當佐醬、放上薄脆餅乾或法國吐司當搭配,這道菜就完成了。
