The Power of Fasting and Prayer
God’s word reveals to us that fasting has many benefits, such as it being a channel of healing, health, answered prayers, and a great way to cast out unbelief from our hearts.
I'm sure that if God is leading you to fast, He is preparing you to receive a manifestation of blessing!
One benefit we are going to look at is increased sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s voice. We can sense God’s directions for our lives better when we fast.
When the disciples in the early church fasted, it seems like they became more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. They were able to receive God’s instructions and leading easier. It also helped them to make the right decision when faced with a big task.
“Now in the assembly that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them.” Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.” (Acts 13:1-3 WEB)
If you are at a crossroads in life and need to make an important decision, the Holy Spirit may lead you to fast to seek God for His guidance and wisdom.
I believe that fasting makes one’s spirit more in tune with the spiritual things of God so we're able to hear from Him with greater clarity.
This is likely because when we fast, we are denying the flesh of its desires and are more focused on the Spirit.
Whenever fasting is mentioned in the Bible, it is mostly combined with prayer. I would liken fasting to an amplifier, making your prayers more effective by casting out unbelief from your heart and also making you more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and what He wants you to pray for.
Do you need to receive wisdom to make an important decision? Maybe you feel like you can’t sense what God wants from you at this point in time. Perhaps it’s time to dedicate a fast to the Lord, and make it a season to receive and hear from Him.
“Let the husband give his wife the affection owed her, and likewise also the wife her husband. The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife. Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn’t tempt you because of your lack of self-control. But this I say by way of concession, not of commandment.” (1 Corinthians 7:3-6 WEB)
The Apostle Paul taught that there are seasons whereby we should put aside fleshly indulgences like physical intimacy with your spouse, and just commit time to fasting and prayer.
The last time I fasted, I had to make a decision whether or not to listen to someone who was many years older than me. He preached God’s word locally and overseas.
After my fast, we met up. I could clearly sense that he was speaking nonsense, and I could easily discern the motivations that were shaping his words. It was obvious that his words were not to be trusted.
If I had listened to him I might have wasted precious years of my life doing something that was not God’s will for me.
Don’t overlook the powerful combination of fasting and prayer. We need to hear clearly from God, especially in difficult seasons and moments of standing at crossroads.

Complacency Let Covid Erode Taiwan’s Only Line of Defense
1. Opening line:
2. Background:
3. Key moment:
4. Outcome:
5. What to do: 國際專家建議應該怎麼做
7. Details:
All the virus had to do was get through the border.
Until this week, Taiwan’s Covid-19 containment appeared to be so effective that virtually no other defenses were put in place: few tests, no local surveillance to pick up undetected infection and close to zero vaccination.
Lauded as one of most successful places in the world at containment, a high level of complacency about the risks had set in among both the public and authorities. Covid-19 seemed to be something happening only in the outside world.
All the virus had to do was get through the border.
The virus’s opening was an ill-fated decision on April 15 to shorten quarantine for airline crew to just three days, as carriers struggled to operate their cargo lines with staff undergoing 14-day isolation periods. Infected pilots introduced a more transmissible U.K. variant, whose spread was then accelerated through a network of “hostess bars” -- places both staff and patrons were reluctant to be associated with, making contact tracing more difficult.
📌 Note:
The virus's opening was an ill-fated decision...
Infected pilots introduced a more transmissible U.K. variant, whose spread was then accelerated through a network of “hostess bars” -- places both staff and patrons were reluctant to be associated with, making contact tracing more difficult.
哇噻,尤其 "reluctant to be associated with",好。。。
Infected pilots carried a more transmissible U.K. variant, which then spread quickly through a network of "hostess bars". This also made contact tracing harder — because staff and customers didn't want to admit that they worked at or visited these bars.
Taiwan reported 267 new infections Wednesday, bringing the total over the past few days to 1,291 -- a small number in global terms but an astonishing one in a place that, before May 1, had posted just 1,132 cases during the entire pandemic.
The surge from zero to quadruple digits signals that undetected spread has been occurring for months, and concern is now growing that Taiwan will go the way of other cautionary tales, from the outbreak last year in Australia’s Victoria state that took a brutal three-month lockdown to quell, to Thailand’s ongoing surge driven by prison clusters.
"The surge from zero to quadruple"
"Go the way of other cautionary tales"
“If they have 300 diagnosed cases, they have 3,000 cases in the community -- they just don’t know it.” said Gregory Poland, a virologist and director of the Mayo Clinic’s Vaccine Research Group. “It’s going to require a hard lockdown, what’s called a circuit-breaker approach, and then getting the vaccine out as quickly as they can.”

COMPUTEX invited marketing partners last week to provide tips and guide the virtual exhibitors standing out in the digital world. Here's a recap from 電商人妻 , we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we do.

✦ Media Marketing Trends for Online Trade Shows
👉All speakers (me included) stressed on the exhibition aim. Clearly defined goals are necessary to draft and implement a marketing strategy attuned to your needs. TechOrange
👉Most tech companies send drafted press articles to media before the show but not all of these are published. Companies should thus take note of the article length, attempt to link content to current tech trends, and so forth. Referencing recently released articles from peers or similar shows can also help with manuscript writing.
---
✦ Enhance Precision Marketing and Customer Interaction
👉COMPUTEX has teamed up with Appier this year to leverage its predictive AI capabilities to empower data-driven decision making i.e. using data analysis to find the most effective marketing solution, pushing information in a more targeted manner. Appier
👉Appier is able to collect countless data (including user info and on-site behavior as well as interests) and integrate these into the user profile for analysis to provide hyper-personalized recommendations through diverse channels like app and website.
---
✦ Online Video Marketing Tips
👉COMPUTEX collaborated with Whitelight Motion for its visual content this year; Founder and Animation Director Rex Hon came to share how to create brand influence from new angles through visual content. Whitelight Motion
👉Brand positioning is a common marketing strategy that lies in creating and building influence in order to own a space within an industry.
COMPUTEX is Everywhere – the concept for the trade show this year permeates through the entire creative process. The final product allows for technology to be felt rather than deliberately stating its presence given its image is already rooted in the heart of the audience.
👉Brands connect with audiences through a brand story and content. #COMPUTEXVirtual has been positioned this year as a life experience platform with the brand video used to convey the image of technology being intertwined with our daily lives.
👉“Some feel the rain, others just get wet” – I am quite fond of this phrase that Rex shared. The feelings evoked are more important than the product facts; this is the core belief behind visual content marketing.
---
✦ B2B Social Media Marketing
👉Though many firms have created social media accounts, few are the ones who actively post content. Social media platforms differ so firms should choose the ones that are aligned to their needs e.g. YouTube is the only platform that reaches audience of all ages.
👉Keep a multi-channel marketing mindset when publishing similar topics or content and tailor these to the audience in each platform. Think of it as a one-stop marketing plan that splits the single content into a multi-platform publishing model.
👉What is the most important aspect of B2B marketing? We must return to the needs of the end user when thinking about the need of our corporate customers.
👉B2B marketing is an area that I have been working on myself so I appreciate the opportunity to learn and connect with experts in this field. This #COMPUTEXTalk was immensely rewarding.

Yes, this is a cover! It may seem a little out of the blue for a lot of ya'll but fun fact - my channel actually started out with covers! They've since been set to private so you'll have no luck finding them, but music has always been such a big part of my life. Making music and singing throughout my upper sec days was pretty much the most effective (and at times, the only) way to cope with my anxiety, because it forces me to breathe.
I knowwwww, can't tell right? It goes to show how much more we need to be open and comfortable with mental health and self-care!
I'll pick this up in another video, but I'm at the point in my life where I have accepted that, like everyone else, my brain is wired a certain way, and have grown comfortable enough in my own skin to be able to acknowledge, address and manage it. It took a while, but I'm very proud to say that I'm doing the best I ever have, and I've never felt this calm, confident and happy for so long in my entire life.
I've always, always wanted to address "touchy" issues like mental health (amongst others), but the stigma and the pity and whatever else comes along with revealing our vulnerabilities has always made me think twice. Also, ngl, I've been busy and prioritising other (i.e. the more fun) videos. But it's 2018 and I'm way past my teenage insecurities. I have many important things I want to share and discuss with you guys, so that's exactly what I'm going to do! I don't know how often I will be able to make these videos considering I usually can only afford to make one per week, but do you remember the think tank videos we've discussed about before (I think it was one of the GRWMs)? I've had topics and talking points all planned out over 2017, but never actually got around to them. It's happening this year. (Let me know if you guys have anything on your minds you'd like to talk about in the comments below btw!)
Anyway, what prompted my decision was this - since my return, I've been feeling very suffocated by my possessions. Moving back with all of my things from New York into my already overflowing room (because I also moved back from staying on campus before I left) was just too much. I started feeling my anxiety creep back every time I look at my piles of stuff, so I've taken the time to clean, pack, declutter and reinvent my entire room for a fresh start. It. Felt. AWESOME. My room has always been my sanctuary + bubble + fun workspace and I'm so happy that it's not only restored, but improved and streamlined into an organised conglomerate of my favourite things. It's also led to the revival of my past hobbies, like knitting, music, painting etc. I feel so energised and inspired now! This incited an insatiable itch to pick everything back up and just do them for the heck of it. I don't care so much if they're productive, or "useful" or not, because time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
Till next time, keep that heart full ya'll xoxoxoxoxoxoxoluvuforeva
