1. Farther và Further
Farther: khoảng cách có thể đo đạc được về mặt địa lý, mà các bạn có thể nhìn thấy được.
UK /ˈfɑːðə(r)/
US /ˈfɑːrðər/
E.g: It’s farther to go this way.
Further : Không thể đo lường cũng như nhìn thấy được.

E.g: I don’t want to discuss any further.
2. Popular và famous
Famous: nổi tiếng, nhiều người biết đến( có thể được yêu thích hoặc nhiều scandal)

E.g: The actor was one of many famous faces at the party.
Popular: nổi tiếng, được nhiều người yêu thích
UK /ˈpɒpjələ(r)/
US /ˈpɑːpjələr/
E.g: Andalucia is a popular tourist destination.
3. Lay và lie
Lay: nghĩa phổ biến là đặt cái gì đó xuống
UK /leɪ/
US /leɪ/
E.g: His mother visited the murder scene yesterday to lay flowers
Lie: có nghĩa là nói dối, nghĩa thứ 2 là nằm xuống.
UK /laɪ/
US /laɪ/
E.g: She lay in bed listening to music.
4. Win và Beat
Win (UK /wɪn/ US /wɪn/) và beat (UK /biːt/ US /biːt/) đều có nghĩa là chiến thắng hoặc đánh bại ai/ điều gì đó. Nhưng sử dụng khác nhau ở tân ngữ theo sau khác nhau của 2 từ.
Win sẽ sử dụng khi tân ngữ như:
contest
game
match
Beat được sử dụng với tân ngữ là 1 người, thường nhấn mạnh vào thất bại nhiều hơn, không thể dùng được nếu không có tân ngữ.
Ví dụ:
She loves to win an argument.
I beat her by just three points.
