A few weeks ago, we shared a video of Omar Mukhtar, Fatimah and Ali apologising to one another after praying together. Since then, many of you have been singing us songs of praise for our parenting technique. However, I do not feel that it is right for us to get the credit cos truthfully, the right people that deserve all the credit should be my parents - the kids’ Dadajee and Dadijee!
They never taught any of us five siblings or told us to do it. What they did was show it to us. I can still remember way back in my childhood days, after every prayer, my mother would kiss my father’s hand and ask for his forgiveness and blessings. And not only her, but my father would also apologise to my mother. Neither my father nor my mother ever told any of us five siblings to do the same thing they were doing.
All I remember was that after a few times of witnessing this beautiful example from our parents, my eldest sister Dr Auntie started doing it as well. And the rest of us followed. That’s how it all started. No lecturing. No forcing. Just leading by example, which is exactly the same technique we’ve applied in our own family. Neither Mr Dad nor me have ever told the kids to do it, let alone force them.
And I would say that my eldest sister deserves an equal amount of credit as my parents too cos until today, she has never failed to lead all of us siblings by setting a good example herself! I am very proud to call myself the younger sister of Dr Ashmiza.
May Allah bless my father (Mahamed Ismail Mohamed Yusuf), my mother (Bibi Asha Hukum Khan), and my eldest sister (Dr Ashmiza) and reward them with the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus! And on this special day, I would like to take the opportunity to give special thanks to both of my parents for gifting me an exemplary elder sister.
Happy birthday to my sister, my best friend, my protector, my idol, and my everything! I love you second cos I know that you love me first, but I will keep on loving you until my last breath…and I pray that we can continue loving one another in Jannah 💞
