Abstract:
The book of Leviticus is by far the most quoted in rabbinic literature such as the Mishna or the Talmud, while it has been marginalized in the Christian tradition. Nevertheless, scholars of both traditions have again become highly interested in it for some decades now. As shown by many recent publications, the book is thoroughly studied for textual, literary, historical and reception aspects.
It has often been said and written that the text of Leviticus is stable in comparison to many other books of the Hebrew Bible, and that its Greek translation is quite literal. Yet, the text of Leviticus continues to raise questions, not only regarding its content and textual witnesses, but also its interpretation, history and reception. The third international colloquium of the Dominique Barthélemy Institute, held in Fribourg in October 2015, aimed to bring together some specialists of the text of Leviticus in order to advance research on its textual witnesses and the aforementioned topics.
The articles collected in this book reflect the width of current research. They deal with the witnesses to the text of Leviticus in the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Masoretic Text, the Samaritan Pentateuch and the Septuagint. They also study the book’s Hebrew editing; its relation to other books such as Joshua, Luke-Acts and Flavius Josephus; and the challenge of its translation, with a case study in French.

How to Become Well-Pleasing to God
“By faith, Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God. Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.” (Hebrews 11:5-6 WEB)
What made Enoch so well-pleasing to God that he was translated away without dying?
Was it because he was perfect in thought and deeds? Was he sinless?
No, the next verse gives the answer. It is faith that makes one well-pleasing to God.
It is faith that makes us justified and saved.
Not that we are sinless or perfect in our works.
Enoch placed his faith in Yahweh, the God of his fathers.
Now Yahweh has manifested Himself in the form of a Man, our Lord Jesus Christ. Today, we call on the name of “Jesus” or “Yeshua” in Hebrew to be saved.
Faith in Him produces a desire to live in a way that’s also pleasing to God. But living a holy life is the fruit of one’s salvation, not the criteria to be saved.
Just as Enoch was “translated”, one day we will be translated too.
This word in Greek is “metatithemi” which in this context means a transfer from one place to another place.
We will be transformed and then caught up (in Greek: harpazo) to the air in the twinkling of an eye, to meet with Jesus before being metatithemi to Heaven.
If Enoch didn’t die, then he’s still alive somewhere as a mortal man. Where did he go then, seeing as he was translated before Jesus’ death at the cross? What is that place called, how does it look like and who are there now?
I go in-depth to explain all truths these in “A Tour of Heaven and Eternity”. I believe you will be blessed by the revelations within: http://bit.ly/heavenandeternity

Today marks the death anniversary of William Tyndale--the anointed martyr of God who was well-versed in English, Hebrew and Greek. He translated the earliest English translation of the Bible! You can get his translation of the New Testament below (they have the Old Testament available separately too).
This translation of the New Testament into English from its original Greek was printed in Germany in 1534 and smuggled back into England. It therefore escaped the fate of Tyndale’s previous version, which had been seized and publicly burnt by the authorities. The 1534 edition outraged the clerical establishment by giving the laity access to the word of God, in print in English for the first time. Tyndale, who was already in exile for political reasons, was hunted down and subsequently burned at the stake for blasphemy.
For the next eighty years―the years of Shakespeare among others―Tyndale’s masterly translation formed the basis of all English bibles. And when the authorized King James Bible was published in 1611, many of its finest passages were taken unchanged, though unacknowledged, from Tyndale’s work.
Although, therefore, this astounding work of pioneering scholarship was the basis of all subsequent English bibles until after the Second World War, and though it was the version of the Bible used by some of our greatest poets, it is today virtually unknown because of its suppression for political reasons because of its difficult early sixteenth-century spelling.
Now for the first time this version is published in modern spelling, as the modern book it once was, so that this masterly work of English prose by one of the great geniuses of the as is available to today’s reader.
