Asher's 叶问 stance.
Yup, just say the name 叶问 (Ip Man) and this boy gets all excited and does this classic pose before starting to throw his punches excitedly - mostly in the air and not on people, phew. If any does land on you, then you must be someone he trusts and loves.
Sometimes I wonder if it is a right decision to expose my kids to all kinds of movies since they are young. They literally watch every show that the hubby and I watch, including sci-fi, action/thriller, comedies and even horror ones too. Of course, these shows must be rated G, PG or PG13 in the first place lah.
Besides explaining to them about the special effects (like how Thanos is a normal guy, Ironman doesn't actually exist, fighting sequences are choreographed, dinosaurs are props and everything boils down to CGI), we also watch the behind-the-scene clips so as to let the kids better understand just how movies are made. For instance, they saw how zombies are all people with make-up and that many epic movie scenes were in fact filmed in a studio with a green backdrop. The bloopers are always funny and we love watching them too.
To me, it is a learning experience for all of us and I guess it is a good thing that we, as a family, love and enjoy movies so much. Friday night is usually movie night for us and if we are not at the cinema, we are snuggling on the sofa and watching Netflix. We each cast our vote so as to choose a show and it can be an old classic movie like Home Alone or a newer one like Black Panther - we just watched that last week.
So yes, I am looking forward to tomorrow which will mark the end of a hectic week and the start of a happy weekend. We still have CNY visitings planned for Saturday (it's 元宵节 oh) and will be hosting our friends for a steamboat on Sunday. Let's all stay safe, drink more water, load up on vitamins (for us, we are eating lots of fruits and vegetables) and mask up when we are out, yeah?
