Câu hỏi tại sao lại im lặng thế trong khi đáng nhẽ phải nói gì đó chứ? Như người ngậm hột thị vậyy
Ví dụ:
What's the matter? Has the cat got your tongue?
Chuyện gì vậy? Sao im lặng không nói gì thế?
Một câu chuyện lý giải nguồn gốc: theo một hình phạt cổ xưa, kẻ nói dối sẽ bị cắt lưỡi vứt cho mèo ăn. Và không nói được gì lun. Mình hiểu chút truyền thuyết thì sẽ dễ nhớ đó hehe. Tuy chưa biết độ chính xác của mấy câu chuyện này đâu nha.

Đáng ra mình muốn làm bất ngờ, mà em gái mình lỡ làm lộ bí mật oy.
Nguồn gốc: Cụm từ này bắt nguồn từ những khu chợ ngày xưa nơi động vật được để trong túi và lợn con sẽ được thay thế bằng mèo, khi mèo nhảy ra ngoài sẽ gây bất ngờ cho mọi người. Cụm từ này đã xuất hiện từ thế kỷ 15.
