5 CẤU TRÚC WISH PHỔ BIẾN

“wish” có nghĩa là “ước” hoặc “chúc”. Cấu trúc câu ước “wish” được sử dụng khi muốn diễn tả mong muốn, ước muốn của ai đó trong hiện tại, quá khứ hay tương lai.

1. Cấu trúc WISH ở hiện tại

Cấu trúc với Wish này được dùng để thể hiện mong ước, nguyện vọng không có thật ở hiện tại, giả định điều trái ngược với thực tế hoặc bày tỏ sự tiếc nuối khi không thực hiện điều gì đó. Trong cấu trúc này, động từ “to be” thường được chia là “were”.

S + wish (that) + S + V (past) + O

Eg:

I wish I were a bit taller. (Ước gì tôi cao hơn một chút.)

Tim wishes he didn’t have to sell his car. (Tim ước anh ấy không phải bán chiếc xe của mình.)

Ann wishes that she lived with her parents. (Ann ước rằng cô ấy sống với bố mẹ mình.)

2. Cấu trúc WISH ở quá khứ

Cấu trúc này được dùng để thể hiện mong ước, nguyện vọng không có thật trong quá khứ, bày tỏ sự nuối tiếc hoặc giả định điều trái ngược với điều đã xảy ra trong quá khứ.

S + wish (that) + S + had + V (past participle) + O

Eg:

I wish I hadn’t said that to Andy. (Tôi ước gì tôi đã không nói điều đó với Andy.)

Linh wishes that she had studied harder for the university entrance exam. (Linh ước rằng cô ấy đã học tập chăm chỉ hơn cho kỳ thi tuyển sinh đại học.)

Jen wishes that she could speak Japanese. (Jen ước rằng cô ấy có thể nói tiếng Nhật.)
