My God is So Big and Mighty
“At the end of twelve months he was walking in the royal palace of Babylon. The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from the sky, saying, “O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you. You shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field. You shall be made to eat grass as oxen. Seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.” This was fulfilled the same hour on Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.” (Daniel 4:29-33 WEB)
It is extremely sobering to think that this God that has a personal relationship with every believer, “rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.”
God deals with major things like the rise and fall of kingdoms. He speaks to kings and yet He is also taking care of our lives, making sure that we have whatever we need.
““Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will, but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31 WEB)
Not even a cheap sparrow falls to the ground without Abba God noticing. He even knows the exact number of hairs on your head.
The one who sets up kings in the world also takes care of the birds, the flowers, the bees, and me. Wow! God’s power is so vast and His love for His creation is so deep and personal. The one who rules Heaven and earth is a good God.
“Behold, the nations are like a drop in a bucket, and are regarded as a speck of dust on a balance. Behold, he lifts up the islands like a very little thing. Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its animals sufficient for a burnt offering. All the nations are like nothing before him. They are regarded by him as less than nothing, and vanity. To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to him?” (Isaiah 40:15-18 WEB)
Abba God must be huge because in comparison to Him, the nations put together are just like a drop of water in a bucket.
Have you held a water droplet before and pondered how tiny it is?
It is amazing that someone so big and mighty is so gentle. He lifts up the microscopic-sized islands without destroying them.
If the nations together are like a speck of dust, imagine handling one island—it must be like the size of the smallest microorganism.
To a God like that, whatever you offer Him is intrinsically worthless. It is too tiny and useless to Him, but He does not despise what you give to Him sincerely.
“Yahweh appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked, and saw that three men stood opposite him. When he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself to the earth, and said, “My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, please don’t go away from your servant. Now let a little water be fetched, wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. I will get a morsel of bread so you can refresh your heart. After that you may go your way, now that you have come to your servant.” They said, “Very well, do as you have said.”” (Genesis 18:1-5 WEB)
When God took the form of a man and appeared to Abraham, Abraham was pleasantly surprised. He offered bread with water and the Lord accepted the humble offerings.
This huge, powerful God who promotes kings and sets up kingdoms, will not despise your heartfelt worship and acts of faith. Whatever you give to Him, He loves it even though they are intrinsically useless to Him.
Whatever challenge you may be facing now is insignificantly tiny as compared to your God. Have faith—you are much more value than many sparrows!
If you encounter days whereby the enemy’s attacks seem so huge and insurmountable, getting a right perspective from God’s word can change that. In “Messiah’s Miracles: The Power of Having Faith in Jesus Christ”, you will see God’s power and His heart of love, grace, and mercy towards you. Breakthroughs and miracles will happen when you have faith: https://bit.ly/messiahs-miracles

Israel Wasn’t Expecting a Messiah like Jesus
“Part your heavens, Yahweh, and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke. Throw out lightning, and scatter them. Send out your arrows, and rout them. Stretch out your hand from above, rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, out of the hands of foreigners;” (Psalms 144:5-7 WEB)
David painted such a grand depiction of Yahweh coming down to rescue him.
This is the image Israel had of the Messiah—that when he appeared, he would come in great glory and majesty to save Israel from her enemies immediately.
However, Yahweh did come down, just not in the way that Israel expected.
Yahweh the Son laid aside His divine glory and took on the form of a man, being born as a baby on earth quietly like the bread of heaven (manna) falling gently upon the dew when everyone was still asleep.
His method of rescuing Israel wasn’t dramatic like fire, lightning and arrows. It was to shed His blood and die as the Lamb of God hanging upon a tree.
No wonder Israel has such a hard time believing that Jesus is their Messiah. He did not manifest in the way they were expecting for so many years.
They have such trouble reconciling the descriptions of the Messiah both as a suffering servant in Isaiah 53 and the Messiah as a conquering king in other parts of Old Testament scriptures.
Therefore, they concluded that there must be two different Messiahs. They call one Moshiach Ben Joseph (The Messiah who is Joseph’s son) and Moshiach Ben David (The Messiah who is David’s son).
This is not true of course—there is only one Messiah, who appears in the world at two separate times.
The first time Jesus appeared, He came to deal with the issue of sin by offering Himself as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the world.
In His “Second Coming” in the future, also called “the Day of Christ” and “the Day of Yahweh”, Jesus will fit David’s depiction of Yahweh as a mighty warrior. Jesus will return on the clouds to rescue Israel from the Antichrist and his wicked armies, just as Jerusalem is about to be conquered and destroyed.
The conquering King of kings will be dressed in royal robes dipped in blood, riding upon a white horse. The sword proceeding from His mouth will easily slay all His enemies, and their blood will run like rivers in Bozrah.
The battle at Armageddon will usher in a millennium of unprecedented peace and prosperity on earth.
We are so close to the time whereby the prophecies in the Book of Revelation will turn into historical facts.

God’s Sovereign Power to Depose Kings and Promote the Humble
He was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws. At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and no one can stop his hand, or ask him, What are you doing?” (Daniel 4:29-35 WEB)
God rules in the kingdom of men by His sovereign power. Nebuchadnezzar didn’t become a mighty king because he was the strongest, smartest or most gifted. God gave him that position and made it possible.
It’s not about how great you are, but about how gracious and powerful our God is. He can place you in a high position and supply you with all the grace you need to fulfill that role.
Without God’s blessing, the mighty king Nebuchadnezzar dressed in royal robes was reduced to a dirty madman, no better than an animal, living in the fields.
If you’re in a high position of influence and power, don’t think highly of yourself. You are placed there because of God’s grace and mercy towards you.
Try asking Him to withdraw His grace from your life and see how far down you’ll fall.
True humility is believing that you are utterly unprofitable in your own sinful flesh, but God has graciously blessed you with many good things. No credit to self but all glory to God.
I love how the passage above clearly displays the sovereignty of God.
He has the power to do whatever He wants—aren’t you glad that His true essence is love?
All the inhabitants of the earth united together against God are still counted as nothing compared to His overwhelming, infinite power!
Do you still think you are so important or great apart from God’s grace?
This amazing God who brought Nebuchadnezzar so low is the same God that came down in the form of a man to live like us and die a humiliating, cruel death on the cross.
Behold how humble, compassionate and loving Jesus is! He who has always been clothed with divine majesty and glory emptied Himself of that form and became like one of us!
“Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name;” (Philippians 2:5-9 WEB)
The highest, greatest Being stooped so low on purpose, allowing Himself to be executed like a worthless, cursed criminal. No wonder Abba God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name above every other name!
Dear brethren, the Gentile kings exalt themselves and suffer from a bad fall. But it shall not be so with you.
In God’s kingdom, kings serve in love and humility.
We will be rewarded by being highly exalted in the Millennium and beyond.
No matter what station God places you in this life, there is an abundance of grace available for you to thrive and glorify Him. Stay grounded in Grace and be humble, no matter how blessed you are in this mortal lifetime!

lyrics:
In the darkness, we were waiting
Without hope, without light.
'Til from Heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes
To fulfill the law and prophets
To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To a cradle in the dirt
Praise the Father, praise the Son
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
To reveal the kingdom coming
And to reconcile the lost
To redeem the whole creation
You did not despise the cross
For even in Your suffering
You saw to the other side
Knowing this was our salvation
Jesus for our sake You died
Praise the Father, praise the Son
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
