糖尿病分為一型及二型,一型患者因自體免疫問題令身體無法製造足夠胰島素;而較多人患上的二型糖尿,一般發生在中年或較年長人士身上,多與肥胖有關,不良飲食習慣令胰臟工作過度,或壓力大令壓力荷爾蒙過度分泌,造成胰島素阻抗而患上糖尿病。如果你有5個或以上風險成因,就要注意身體症狀,定期進行身體檢查,戒除不良飲食習慣,讓糖尿病離你越來越遠。

There are two types of diabetes mellitus: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 patients cannot produce sufficient insulin due to the problems with their immune system. Type 2, which is more common, normally happens to elderly folks.
Type 2 diabetes is also associated with obesity and unhealthy dietary habits, which cause the pancreas to overwork. Excessive secretion of stress hormone, too, can inhibit the secretion of insulin, which in turn leads to diabetes.
If these risk factors seem familiar to you, then you should start paying attention to your health and go for regular body check-ups. Getting rid of all the unhealthy eating and drinking habits is the best preventive measure to keep diabetes at bay.

不少男士都喜歡「飲返兩杯」,酒是減壓、交際應酬不可少的飲料,從中醫角度來看,酒也是一種中藥,無論是葡萄酒、啤酒、燒酒、白酒或是黃酒,都是屬性偏溫,有散寒氣、通血脈的功效,與所有食材一樣,適量及配合體質飲用可和氣行血;相反飲酒過量容易於體內聚濕、生痰、化熱,影響肝及脾臟的正常運作。加上都市人多熬夜,飲食不節制,多喝酒會令身體更為濕熱,故要適可宜止。
如你有以下症狀,可適量飲酒:
- 手足冰冷等虛寒症狀
- 手腳麻痺、關節疼痛等氣血不通的症狀
- 淋雨或感受寒濕之邪
- 外傷跌打後用作活血化瘀
如果你有以下症狀,不宜喝酒:
- 胃病
- 肝病
- 痛風
- 高血壓
- 心臟病
- 糖尿病患者
- 月經期間、孕婦及哺乳期婦女
- 濕熱
- 痰濕
- 陰虛
如果不小心多喝幾杯,醒來有宿醉症狀,可以適量進食柚子、梨、西瓜、香蕉、蘋果或橙,這些水果都有解酒作用。或者沖泡一杯花旗參梨乾茶,有醒酒、紓緩宿醉不適症狀。
花旗參梨茶
功效:醒酒,紓緩酒後不適如頭重欲吐、無胃口等症狀。
材料:花旗參1湯匙、梨乾3-4片
做法:材料洗淨放保溫瓶,以熱開水沖洗一遍,注入熱開水焗約15分鐘即可。此茶可反覆沖泡至味淡。

Is alcohol good for you?
Many men enjoy an alcoholic drink every now and then. Besides treating it as a stress reliever, alcohol is also an important beverage in social events. From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, alcoholic drinks, be it red wine, beer, shoju, white wine, or millet wine, they are all warm in nature and can dispel cold in the body and improve blood circulation. Just like any ingredients, individuals should consume them in an appropriate amount based on their body constitutions to improve the circulation of qi and blood.
Excessive drinking can cause dampness to accumulate in the body, induce phlegm production, and clear heat, affecting the functions of the liver and spleen. Besides, city folks tend to sleep late and are not mindful of their diets. It is easier for damp heat to accumulate in their body when they consume alcoholic beverages. Hence, it is crucial not to over-indulge in these drinks.
You can have an appropriate amount of alcoholic beverages if you have these symptoms:
- Symptoms such as cold limbs
- Numbness on the limbs, joint pain and stagnation of qi and blood
- After being invaded by the dampness and cold pathogenic factors or getting wet in the rain
- Has external injuries (alcohol can invigorate the blood and clear stasis)
You should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages if you have these symptoms:
- Gastrointestinal problem
- Liver problem
- Gout
- Hypertension
- Heart diseases
- Diabetic
- Women during menstruation, pregnant women, and mothers who are breastfeeding
- Damp heat
- Phlegm-dampness
- Yin deficiency
If you unintentionally consumed alcoholic drinks excessively and have a hangover, try eating pomelo, pear, watermelon, banana, apple, or orange, as these fruits can help relieve the condition. You can also make yourself a cup of American ginseng and dried pear tea to reduce the discomfort of a hangover.
American Ginseng tea with pear
Effects: Helps to sober up. Relieves symptoms such as heavy headedness, nausea, lack of appetite after drinking.
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon American Ginseng, 3-4 pieces dried pear
Preparation: Place all ingredients into thermos. Rinse once with hot water, add in hot water and steep for 15 minutes until aroma develops. This tea can be re-brewed until flavour weakens.

【手部護理】雙手皮膚經常掹掹緊?

鍾小姐:「疫情以來常常洗手同使用酒精搓手液,雙手看來又乾又皺,好像老了10年。」
CheckCheckCin:忽略手部護理令到雙手又乾又皺,比實際年齡要老,看起來顯老的手一般有以下幾個特徵:
☐皮膚乾燥甚至爆裂
☐皮膚粗糙
☐皮膚失去彈性
☐青筋突現
☐出現色斑
☐指甲容易斷裂
經常戶外工作、雙手做粗重工作及常濕水的手,肌膚老化得特別快,如果常用酒精搓手液的話,老化速度亦會增加,因為酒精會刺激皮膚,帶走皮膚角質層上的水分,令皮膚乾癢、繃緊,嚴重的更會導致脫皮、敏感、痕癢,甚至演變成主婦手。所以工作時宜戴上手套保護,盡可能選擇用肥皂洗手,酒精搓手液只是在無法洗手情況下使用,使用後亦宜塗抹不含刺激物的護手霜,讓肌膚補充水份。
動起來!簡易手部護理:
(一)厚繭型 ── 多死皮或長倒刺,可以來個溫和的磨砂護理:
1茶匙黃糖(或米渣)加2-3茶匙橄欖油拌勻,磨砂後以溫水洗淨,一星期護理2-3次。
(二)乾燥型 ── 手部皮膚繃緊,除了勤塗護手霜,臨睡前可厚敷一層護手霜加強滋潤,間中可以做手膜護理:
1茶匙黃糖加2-3茶匙蜂蜜拌勻,厚敷在手上10分鐘,以溫水洗淨即可。

Rescue your dry hands
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve been washing my hands with water and alcohol-based sanitizer regularly. Now my hands are dry and wrinkly, and they look 10 years older.”
CheckCheckCin: When we neglect the skincare routine for our hands, they would look much older than our actual age. A pair of hands that look old may have these features:
☐Dry or cracked skin
☐Rough skin
☐Lack of elasticity
☐Visible veins
☐Dark spots
☐Brittle fingernails
Our hands may age much faster if we spend time working outdoors, rely on our hands to carry out physically demanding tasks, and wet our hands too often. Using alcohol-based sanitizer would also speed up the aging process because alcohol would stimulate the skin and remove the moisture from the cuticles. This would cause the skin to feel dry, itchy, and tight. In more serious scenarios, the skin might peel easily, more susceptible to allergens, severe itch, and even suffer from the housewife's eczema.
Hence, it is important to wear gloves at work and wash our hands with soap. Use alcohol-based sanitizers only when you run out of options and remember to apply irritant-free hand cream after that to rehydrate the skin.
Simple hand care routine:
1) Thick calluses – those with thick dead skin and hangnail can opt for a mild exfoliating skincare routine:
Add 2-3 teaspoons of olive oil to 1 teaspoon of brown sugar (or rice dregs) and mix them well. Use the mixture to exfoliate the skin and wash it off with warm water. Repeat the routine 2-3 times a week.
2) Dry skin – those with hands that always feel tight. Besides putting on hand cream diligently, apply a layer of hand cream before sleep to boost its hydration effect. In the meantime, you can carry out this routine:
Add 2-3 teaspoons of honey to 1 teaspoon of brown sugar and mix them well. Apply the mixture on the hands for 10 minutes and wash it off with warm water.

Today, I’m going to be talking about pooping. ? Yup, we’re going to learn how to poop more frequently and healthily.
There are many factors that can cause constipation, some of the most common reasons include severe stress, a poor diet, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, dehydration, and even a change of environment or time zone due to travelling.
I’m sure when you’ve been constipated for several days, your abdomen feels bloated and extremely uncomfortable, making you agitated, and even moody. Watch this video to learn how frequently you should go to the toilet and 7 tips to help relieve constipation naturally!
1) Drink warm water
2) Drink a cup of coffee
3) Have a consistent poop routine
4) Adjust your toilet posture
5) Increase your fibre intake, but don't over do it!
6) Eat pre & probiotic foods
7) Exercise regularly
Occasional constipation is normal, but if you experience pain every time you go then speak to your doctor if you’re concerned about your ongoing constipation.

VLOG UPDATE WEEK 16 - Commitment To Your Goal
As i type this, i'm now less than 2 weeks out to comp. Everything is slowly falling in place. These days the main thing now is focus. In the words of Azizul Hasni Awang The Keirin World Champion - he told me to remember every single training I have done and that will help motivate me as the comp date gets closer.
Commitment to your goal is so important and I don't mean it from just a fitness perspective but in every aspect of life. From something as simple as waking up early or even brushing your teeth, sending a text to your loved ones to tell them where you are... these are all commitments. You do it cause you have to.
I'll honest - its silly - but I do get emotional, thinking of the hours i've put in for training. The amount i have spent on food, petrol, getting from place to the next, sacrificing certain things so I can focus on comp. There's a smile at the corner of my mouth as I think about all the things that have happened since the 1st of Jan.
With the little time i have left, I'm pretty happy how my body is coming in. Cause there are lines I've never seen before, at my abs, at my shoulders... it's truly fascinating to see this present which is yourself unfold.
Costume
Please do not do what I did if this is your first comp and get your comp to the last minute. I'm happy that the backup costume came in time, I've got my friend Nila to help me tailor the costume, i found my white wedge shoe... I'm fortunate where I'm able to spend a bit more on my costume. By right I would love to save some money but at the same time, I rather put what I can afford into this comp. Hence making sure I look the part and I look good. I've already gone this far, it would be such a waste, if I didn't give everything I have.
Nutrition has changed slightly. From 1650 i'm now at 1550 with a macro breakdown of Protein 60% Fat 30% Carb 10%. I know it does look crazy low, but honestly i'm doing ok with the food. Nutrition i can handle, what I can't handle is not getting enough rest.
Rest is crucial for anyone who was to lose fat and weight. Lack of sleep will cause you to bloat , your stress hormone cortisol goes up and it'll disturb the digestive system.
Next week, will be my final Vlog Prep for this Journey To Comp Series. Very excited, as butterflies fly in my tummy and mind. Good night everyone and thank you again for following my journey!
