SULTAN JOHOR: TINGKATKAN PEMBERIAN VAKSIN

SULTAN OF JOHOR - ACCELERATE VACCINATION DRIVE
HM The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar today (23 June) expressed disappointment with the slow rate of COVID-19 vaccinations.
With only 10 percent of Johor’s 3.78 million population having received their vaccines to date through the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, His Majesty appeals to the Federal Government to step up the national vaccination drive and secure more vaccine supplies, including for Johor.
“I feel the vaccination rate is still too slow and needs to be accelerated urgently. I hope the Federal Government can also increase vaccine supplies to Johor.
“The Johor State Government machinery is prepared to deliver 50,000 jabs a day, with the aim of vaccinating 50 percent of the Johor population within two months,” His Majesty said to the Royal Press Office (RPO).
HM Sultan Ibrahim spoke after granting an audience to Johor Menteri Besar, Dato’ Hasni Mohammad; Johor State Secretary, Dato’ Azmi Rohani; Johor State Legal Advisor, YB Tuan Amir Nasruddin and Johor State Health Director, Dato’ Dr. Aman Rabu earlier today.
The Sultan of Johor’s worries are further exacerbated following reports that infections at workplaces, industrial areas and construction sites are currently the major contributors to the daily tally of COVID-19 cases.
The situation feels more grim with a statistic showing 69 percent of new cases are sporadic infections within the community whose sources of infection are not traceable.
“The best solution to solve this conundrum is to vaccinate as many of our entire population as quickly as possible. This has proven to be successful in many countries that have implemented it,” said His Majesty.
