Don’t postpone your happiness to the future.

“When I am rich, I will be happy.” Really? King Solomon is by today’s standards a trillionaire and he was not happy. Read about it in the Book of Ecclesiastes. He indulged in every worldly comfort and pleasure possible, and yet he concluded that it was all vanity of vanities, grasping after the wind.

Happiness is not about being rich or poor. It is about having Christ in you and with you.

“This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ.” (John‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

As a believer, you know God not as a distant person, but a good Father who loves you and is on your side. To the world who does not know Him, He is still the Judge who punishes the wicked. They do not have the kind of relationship that we enjoy with Him.

Start enjoying your relationship with Abba God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit today. You can pray, and God will show you amazing truths, advice for the future, and help you with whatever you need.

A life without God is an empty life, like always eating but never being able to satisfy that hunger.

When you have Jesus as Lord, you have the Bread of Life, the living bread from Heaven to feed on. His words in the Scriptures, the Lord’s Supper, are true food that nourish you in many ways.

Perhaps happiness is having an unlimited supply of this heavenly food, so that your spiritual hunger is satisfied!

If you want to know God’s heart for you, you can study the 37 recorded miracles of Jesus Christ in “Messiah’s Miracles”. As we look at each of the miracles that were recorded in the four gospels, you will know Abba God better by seeing what Jesus does. #NFTsummer A few weeks ago, we interviewed Xixi Huang (AW#17) in Mandarin and as the AppWorks Fellow who helps us out on the blockchain side, Xixi has a lot of ideas that are worth sharing to a bigger audience. Here's his interview in English:

西西 (Xixi) 黃士晉 is an AppWorks #17 alumni and co-founder of Rydeit. His mission is to bring the applications of blockchain to everyday life because he believes that blockchain can make the world a more fair and better place. As an AppWorks Fellow, he is responsible for guiding founders to think about blockchain and providing insights on blockchain-related investment deals. Before AppWorks, he led his previous team to build more than 10 dapps, including famous games in Taiwan such as 柚子打魚 and Shrimp.Finance. Within a month of launching these games, they had amassed over NT$ 100M (~US$ 3.5M) in transactions. His favorite pastime is traveling with his grandma, and his ultimate goal is to persuade her to buy Bitcoin!

#NFTevolution

I started to learn how to write smart contracts in 2016, and learned the entire logic of ERC-20 for tokens and ERC-721 for NFTs. While I was learning about NFTs, I realized that the combination of NFTs with video games was very fitting. In video games, the treasure and equipment you collect becomes virtual assets as NFTs. And the process of using smart contracts to exchange items was very efficient on the blockchain.

At the end of 2018, I designed and created a zombie video game, integrating the concept of playing and drawing cards and packs. Within a pack were 3 NFTs with zombies on them. As a player, the more cards with zombies you collect, the higher your score, and the more tokens you can ultimately earn. From this game, I got connected to other game manufacturers and publishers who were also interested in creating virtual game assets through NFTs. We all had the same idea -- NFTs can bring more meaning and value to the players.

However at the time, many people in the market still believed that tokens and games were riddled with fraud. Since the lifecycle of video games can be short, many traditional gaming companies in the end didn’t find it worthwhile to learn how to integrate NFTs or blockchain into their games.

While the nature of NFTs hasn’t changed, the market has evolved. People’s curiosities are growing, more applications are being developed, and more creators are cropping up. I think now is the right time to start talking to companies about how to integrate NFTs or blockchain into their businesses or games.

#NFTplayground

I think there are many opportunities to start a business these days, and people who want to start one should think about coming to blockchain. Not only is there a huge opportunity but the possibilities are endless. And within blockchain, NFTs currently offer the biggest opportunity. However, it can also pose a new challenge to the team’s endurance, because while easy to obtain traction and users with NFTs, the challenge lies in retaining them.

Similar to other blockchain applications in the past few years, when a new concept is invented, it’ll be flushed with many early users. However, because the surrounding infrastructure wasn’t in place, it was difficult for founders to make valuable extensions or applications. And many of these users don’t actually care about these blockchain products and they are only trying to leverage the ecosystem to make a quick buck. Once they earn all that they can, they will move on to another project.

Right now working on NFTs, you can collect a lot of data in a short amount of time and also make some income to keep you afloat. Founders should seize this opportunity to understand these users, then modify and optimize both their products and mentality to retain them.

Since there’s no geographical restriction on blockchain, I would encourage founders to look beyond your country and region in expanding your NFT products. Also, since blockchain is closely related to finance, if you don’t have a good pricing strategy (or token economics) for your NFT products, the prices might fluctuate greatly. You need to be prepared and remind your users of the risks, otherwise you’ll ultimately get scolded!!

#NFTera

This year, I finally consider myself an official NFT collector. I pay special attention to NFTs with contemporary significance, such as Hashmasks. It signals to the public that NFTs are not just for collecting but that game mechanics can also be applied to interact with users. If we look back ten years from now I’m confident to say that the project that really brought the NFT wave in 2021 would be Hashmasks.

In addition to veteran projects like Hashmasks, other collections I care a lot about are related to Metaverse, such as The Sandbox. I believe that the world will become more and more decentralized and virtual. It is very likely that the next generation will be immersed in a virtual world like Ready Player One, so I am also very optimistic about NFTs in digital worlds like The Sandbox.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to NFTs. Right now, few NFTs are connected with our daily lives. For example, I bought a Hashmask. If I want to show it in my apartment, I might still need to print it out. In the future, how will we connect NFTs to the physical world? I believe they can be applied in many ways, including frames, wallets, cars, house deeds, leases, etc. These products in daily life can be combined with NFTs. We just haven’t opened our imagination yet. It’s hard to imagine that only 20 years ago we were having a hard time believing in the power of the internet.

The development of science and technology not only relies on infrastructure, but also the user's learning curve. The world needs to talk about blockchain more, so that everyone will gradually become familiar with it and it’ll continue to evolve.

Work-from-home seems like the way to go until mankind finds a way around the pandemic. As some of you would know, Roland and I still hold our own full-time jobs. Both of us are working at home most of the time. Just like you, we like our meals to be easy, quick and yet still delicious on a working day. As we try to limit ourselves from going out too often, we usually stock our pantry with long-lasting vegetables, such as potatoes, carrots and onions. We love this Chinese style chicken stew recipe because it's so easy to cook and we have all of the ingredients ready in our pantry. Best of all, it is really yummy. You can have them as is, serve them with some steamed rice or even pasta - really versatile!

Dear all,

Eversince KokoKaina days, I'd always look forward to writing the descriptions of a video. In a way, I felt that it was always a little more peek behind the song, and of me, to you.

It's been awhile since I've written in it, though I feel now is the time to so...

This song was a joint creation with my friend and former guitarist, David Hurwitz (dAvid sTrange) when he showed me some of the poems he'd had, many years ago. He is quite a prolific writer and this one in particular just spoke to me. So we worked on the song and melodies that day, as the words were already written by David.

It was quite an elevated feeling we had, after we were done, as I think we both knew how much this meant to us, and to everyone who will listen to it. Medicine.

It then took a few more years to be able to record it to its full form that you now hear. I recorded this in Los Angeles, where it was produced by one my dear friends and musical partners, Andre DeSantanna. I would like that this chance to thank him and the musicians, Rafa and Daniel for bringing it further to life.

Dear all,
We are now going through such a strange time, where we are all experiencing the same force, where no one is pardoned from it...

But I, just like the rest of you, feel uncertain, but coping and most of all, hopeful, that we can get out of this.

Once we do, we must remember, that even though, this grave situation may leave a large dent on our world and ways of living, we absolutely MUST rise wisely, do things fair and accordingly, and steadily, and not go into the extremes, as we must remind ourselves, that ALL OF US ARE/WERE IN IT TOGETHER!

Lets all do the right thing as citizens, humans, friends, family, and stay home, for the love of yourself, your family and all your loved ones.

This video was a passion project between my friend Curly and I, and a small crew of 5, one camera, Curly and I co-directing, as he creative directed (he wears many hats). We shot this back in January, in Johor, Malaysia, near the beach, where it was very very warm. I insisted on having very minimal makeup, as you can tell, but most of that melted off as well.

I kept true to my vision and wore a turtleneck anyway because i was told, you gotta suffer for the art. ;)

昨天 Netflix新上架的美國浪漫喜劇片《雙軌人生》Look Both Ways，由 Netflix高中劇《河谷鎮》的 Lili Reinhart來演大學畢業女主角，這次也和一個男主角「只是朋友」大搞曖昧！結果開場不久就把朋友變成砲友了，自以爲事前措施做很充足竟仍害喜要驗孕 (!!) 對許多高中畢業或大學畢業正在享受人生展望前程的年輕人來說這就是人生轉捩點：一條線就是各奔前程去 LA 圓夢衝事業、兩條線就要生下孩子柴米油鹽過小鎮生活（現在美國還不能墮了XD）... 當下忐忑的自己將會走上哪條路？

這種「人生分歧」走上不同道路的電影我記得在上世紀有一陣子挺紅，藝術片有《機遇之歌》（九月要重映！）愛情片有《雙面情人》驚悚片有《蘿拉快跑》，應該還有其他很多我沒看過的，只覺得近年比較流行科幻的「平行宇宙」而不是這種文學浪漫的「平行人生」了... 今日這部新生代的《雙軌人生》就不是搞科幻而是搞浪漫喜劇，年輕觀眾可以當作「一個驗孕的年輕女生」在揣想不同的未來人生、年長觀眾可以當作「酸甜苦辣我已走過」回頭告訴過去的自己 Everything's gonna be fine ，總之年輕忐忑年長回首都是值得珍惜的點滴。

故事開始：德大奧斯汀分校的愛畫畫女主角 Natalie，與女閨蜜 Cara 和男好友 Gabe 正把握畢業前夕享受青春夢想未來，C 已應徵到LA大公司 G已在玩團要做音樂 N自己則要前進 LA 應徵動畫產業，只是這天心血來潮和「只是好友」的 Gabe 上了個床自命無傷大雅、過了幾週居然需要驗孕了？就在這裡人生突然分成了兩半：沒懷孕的 NatalieA 輕鬆走出去跟大家互道祝福各奔前程了、有懷孕的 NatalieB 面色凝重走出去人生天旋地轉了，更炫的是鏡頭捕捉的眼神配上有意的剪接彷彿兩姐妹正互相遠望！彷彿坐這山望那山想著「妳的人生將會怎麼樣？」

對常開同學會的年長觀眾來說、或對社群網路就即時分享的年輕觀眾來說，「我的同儕過著什麼生活」總是個忍不住好奇比較的焦慮，本片則直接把這同儕用同一張臉拍成「另一個自己」。年輕時，尤其是當代受到高等教育耕耘才能從小就被鼓勵圓夢的這一代，當然是留在小鎮的羨慕大城圓夢的、柴米油鹽的羨慕發揮才能的、奶瓶尿布的羨慕夜夜笙歌的，總令人回想那個關鍵時刻「如果能重來」人生將會多美好？這點對人生仍有無限可能的年輕觀眾來說、也許仍有許多苦悶焦慮，但對早已走過一遭與人生和解的成年觀眾來說、其實哪條路都可以很好就看我們怎麼走。

第一年，懷孕的 Natalie放棄了夢想留在了小鎮、很負責的「只是好朋友」Gabe也延遲他夢想跟著留下「只是當爸爸」，還好有 Luke Wilson演的搞笑暖爸與 Andrea Savage演的毒舌辣媽開明承接這一切荒唐；第一年，沒懷孕的 Natalie來到 LA 了，努力廣投履歷結交人脈展現積極，果然認識貴人進到夢想公司還遇上有才華暖男！人生走到這步簡直天上地下呀。

第二年，當小媽的 Natalie每天奶瓶尿布夜裡起床從來睡不好，還好「好爸爸」Gabe隨侍在旁共同承擔從不離棄，只是看著臉書默然無語、和好友電話只悠悠道來「沒怎麼在畫畫了」，難道曾經人生的「五年計劃」就此一去不返？那邊廂，沒懷孕的 Natalie正和有才華有夢想又情投意合的新男友Jake「各言爾志」，"If You Fail to Plan, You Are Planning to Fail" 兩人異口同聲的創業家格言！未來我們要當大動畫師大製作人住比佛利山雙宿雙飛？

第三四年，當小媽的 Natalie彷彿覺得媽媽人生只是「暫時出軌」還能回正軌，竟把深情款款準備再進一步的「好爸爸」打回「好朋友」，想試著重訪舊友重返LA，卻赫然發現不但媽媽是一生羈絆再也放不掉、那「放掉」心態反而還錯過真愛？還要走過這一遭的自己媽媽提點「過去的妳已永遠拋下」一去不返，真問題倒是「全新的妳」想要什麼樣？那邊廂，那所謂「過去的我」過到今日的「沒懷孕的 Natalie」就令人稱羨？看似專業男女平步青雲各有好工作，但影壇專業當空中飛人聚少離多很難成家的，何況一畢業就進業界未曾經歷人生何來藝術家「自己的聲音」？

奮起，當小媽的 Natalie與沒懷孕的 Natalie，兩個不同人生都要在「西南偏南」SXSW（不只影展還有更多）殊途同歸！放下未竟夢想擁抱當下人生的小媽 Natalie，投的是以小孩夜半哭鬧為靈感的「貓頭鷹」漫畫，也與過去夢想的動畫大師 Lucy Galloway同台對話！回到家鄉沈潛一陣的沒懷孕 Natalie，也是 one way or another 找到了「自己的聲音」推出自己的動畫，亦得自己崇拜跟隨一遭也蒙其激勵的大師 Lucy Galloway點頭肯定。

當然啦，本片在這種同樣階段不同路線的「人生點滴」敘事中，雖然有努力堅守人生事件的「對位」、人生場景的「似曾相識」、以及夜闌人靜的「想像他方」，但這些對位敘事有努力雕琢精美之餘，有些事件也不免有點硬要或大絕。譬如，有小孩的 Natalie以小媽人生靈感畫出「自己的聲音」那作品人人一看都懂，那沒懷孕的 Natalie她「自己的聲音」又如何呈現在她動畫中？這點未能交代恐有點失衡。再者，有小孩的 Natalie儘管曾經「錯過真愛」但真愛會回來、沒懷孕的 Natalie面臨業界男女「空中飛人」問題但真愛也會飛回來，這愛情是否太過好運來得太輕鬆？

看此片我先想到《機遇之歌》《雙面愛人》或《蘿拉快跑》等類似題材老片，不過看它一個年輕女生有笑有淚浪漫成長，又不禁想到近年《真愛挑日子》與《真愛繞圈圈》，不過此片有星度不高外型親切劍走 quirky 的 Lili Reinhart，我覺得比光芒萬丈的安海瑟薇或莉莉柯林斯都接地氣得多！只是經過業界人生事業愛情難以兩全的、或是育兒人生柴米油鹽擔待一生的，也許都會覺得此片「兩個 Natalie」各有笑淚的人生還是都太輕鬆了，未曾經歷真正痛苦就得來「一切都會好」的圓滿人生 XD 就當是給驗孕中的緊張小妹一個拍拍吧。推薦年輕忐忑或年長走過的觀眾欣賞。
