From my point I don’t see why you would buy the 2014 model as the upgrade is not really that extreme and might even be just maybe only noticable in very large projects. But the 2.3ghz vs 2.5ghz Quadcore Intel i7 processsors is overal does not really improve much. So here is the list specs of both.
Macbook Pro 15.4inch Retina 2014 ($2499)
2.5GHz Quadcore Intel Core i7 6MB cache
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
Intel Iris Pro Graphics
Nvidia Geforce GT 750M
512GB flash storage
2x Thunderbolt ports
2x USB 3.0
SD card reader
Macbook Pro 15.4inch Retina Late 2013 ($1500-2000)
2.3GHz Quadcore Intel Core i7 6MB Cache
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
Intel Iris Pro Graphics
Nvidia Geforce GT 750M
512GB flash storage
2x Thunderbolt ports
2x USB 3.0
SD card reader
Really not that much of difference and mostly the rendering and graphic handling for editing is more about the proper graphics card that can handle it than the CPU. So you can save atleast 500 to 1000bucks which you could invest into something else instead of only gaining that little bit of extra CPU speed.
