On September 28, 2018, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5Mw struck the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. The earthquake triggered a tsunami in the Makassar Strait, which swept into Palu Bay causing waves of up to 23m high in some parts. At least 1,900 people were killed while thousands more remain missing.
We’ve recently launched #ToIDwithLove relief fund to provide support for Palu. Donations will be collected online (airasiafoundation.com/relieffund) and on-board AirAsia flights from now until 31 October 2018. .
All donations will be chanelled to Yayasan Arkom Indonesia to help rebuild homes and improve disaster resilience in affected areas. AirAsia will match the total public collection, which will be announced in January 2019. .
