I posted something earlier about how happy I was to see that Apple Music reversed their policy of royalty-free music sales for 90 days after Taylor Swift spoke out against it. A lot of people made comments likening it to the Metallica/Napster situation (rightly so, as it was very similar), or generally portraying her as a greedy millionaire. But this thing has absolutely nothing to do with the person/artist/business person that is Taylor Swift, just as the Napster issue had nothing to do with Metallica specifically. It has to do with the idea that music has commercial value, that it must be paid for, and that the artists must be compensated for it. So whether it's Taylor Swift, Metallica, or an unknown indie artist, the idea being expressed shouldn't be judged based on the person expressing it. It's valid in itself. Furthermore, think about how many indie artists said the exact same thing to Apple with no results. Taylor has a big stick, and she swung it. And it made something happen that directly benefits every single artist, indie or major, who plans to stream their music through this platform. So you can hate on her music, her bank account, or whatever you want to- but she just did a serious solid for everyone who is trying to make a living playing music. I can tell you this with 100% certainty because I'm one of those people. I might not buy her album, but I'll definitely buy her a beer if I see her at the bar.
This whole thing is specifically related to streaming, which of course is not a particularly lucrative revenue stream for artists. For those of you who want to very directly support the musicians you listen to, the best ways to do it are by buying physical albums, concert tickets, and other merchandise. The next best thing is digital downloads (iTunes, etc.). Below that is streaming. If you're going to stream it, paying for a subscription at least guarantees that the artists are going to see a bit of royalty money. [I hope this helps for anyone who was genuinely wondering how we survive.]
I can tell you that Snarky Puppy went almost an entire decade before finishing a single year in the black. We went through 9 years of fiscal loss, and I can name you a dozen other artists I know off the top of my head who have the same story or worse. Musicians don't it for the money, but we can't keep playing without it.

Black Veil Brides真正開始爆紅在我的認知裡應該是從第二張專輯"Set the World on Fire"開始，因為他們從第一張"We stitch these wounds"有點結合Post-Hardcore,Metalcore的風格成功轉型到80年代Glam Metal/HardRock的風格，可以說是有相當大的長進，而"Set the World on Fire"其實是一張不錯的專輯，只不過封面實在太俗氣，加上主唱Andy Biersack有點做作的嗓音，讓我當時也只是偶爾聽聽沒有多加留意。
但是於年初剛發行的新專輯"Wretched and Divine:The Story of the Wild Ones"我就不得不來介紹一下，這整張概念專輯圍繞在一個反叛軍"The Wild Ones"對抗黑暗軍團"F.E.A.R"的故事，團員在錄製專輯的時候曾提到風格走向將回歸到對他們影響深遠的幾個樂團例如Sisters Of Mercy,Social Distortion,Metallica等等....
主唱Andy Biersack表示：要將一整個故事用音樂並且有架構的方式呈現出來是製作這張專輯最大的挑戰，而每一首歌也能獨立出來不被故事的情節侷限，但一開始我們太專注於為了這個故事而寫歌，忘記了寫歌同時需要加入的元素或是初衷，所以我們就花了一個月盡全力寫出我們最滿意的歌曲。
結果確實如他所說，是一張完成度相當高的作品，就我聽的感覺很像是一齣完整的音樂劇，而不是像上一張每一首都是獨立的樂曲，我認為很重要的一點是因為導入了交響弦樂的編制在歌曲當中穿插了一些各首曲子主旋律的間奏，讓曲目之間有更強的整體感。
至於樂器表現相當不俗：Jake與Jinxx的雙吉他飆奏在這張專輯更加強化，熱血的Solo不停噴發，鼓手Christian "CC" Coma的雙大鼓對點與流暢的tom tom過門絕對讓你驚呼連連，主唱Andy的假掰嗓音已不復見，轉而變成旁白般咬字清楚的敘述故事，卻又會忽然在副歌擴大成氣勢磅礡且旋律記憶點極高的大合唱，"Devil's Choir","Shadows Die"的編曲更會讓你陷入有如A7X般的錯覺！
特別來賓方面邀請了Hardcore Punk名團Aiden，同時也是一人電音團William Control的主唱Wil Francis扮演統治世界的黑暗組織F.E.A.R.首領錄製插曲旁白，和Post-Hardcore始祖The Used主唱Bert McCracken在”Days Are Numbered”跨刀獻唱。
值得一提的是樂團也為了完整呈現這張專輯的概念進而將整個故事拍設成正式的電影”Legion of the Black”，先前釋出的首支MV”In The End”其實有點算是電影的濃縮版或是預告片，該片已在去年底於LA首映，目前在樂團粉絲專頁可以付費觀看，DVD版本將收錄於六月底發行的"Wretched and Divine: Ultimate Edition"精裝重發版，套裝也將附上三首新單曲和未曝光過的攝影集並收納於精美黑盒！
結論就是這是一張滿棒的專輯，而且再也看不到噁心的濃妝BVB了，我真的覺得以前的裝扮只是要提昇他們自己的名氣和話題性，到達顛峰以後卸除外在表象反樸歸真做出這張史詩般的鉅作才是他們背後真正的目的，有一句諺語說"Don't judge a book by its cover"，不應該因為一個樂團的裝扮而否定了他們在音樂上的努力，如果你討厭以前的他們那我建議還是放下成見聽一下這張吧！
