Apart from pyramid of sun and moon, you would also see the familiar pyramid archeological style built by Mayan as a living proof that Mayan influence is huge.

Climbing up to the tallest pyramid, you can get a sense of the high point of the kingdom which ironically collapsed within short period of time as its neighbour countries rallied with Spain and ended it.
Cobá是Yucatán Peninsula上的一個瑪雅文明的城市遺址；據推測，鼎盛時期Cobá約有五萬住民或者甚至更多，而建成區則超過80平方公里。Cobá中心地區與周邊散落的建築物由道路連接，遊客可考慮徒步或乘三輪人力車遊覽。Cobá眾多的建築物中，以La Iglesia及「大金字塔」Nohoch Mul較為人熟悉。圖中的是我坐在Nohoch Mul的石梯上拍下的照片，這座「大金字塔」高達42米，是瑪雅文明中其中一個最高的建築。Nohoch Mul現今仍可供遊客爬上頂，但這座金字塔有點陡峭的，雖然中間有條繩子供遊客拉着，但我還是建議各位要穿上適合的裝束挑戰它啊！

由於我們預留的日子比較短，而local tour的行程都比較趕，所以我們決定一天內遊覧Chichen與Cobá。

我們乘搭了最早的巴士班次由Playa del Carmen 到Valladolid，再搭的士到Chichen（這樣才能於Chichen開門時到達，以避免旅行團人群）。世事難料，我們在chichen花了半小時才找到開往Cobá的巴士站，然後又花了約一小時等巴士。到達Cobá時，已是三時多，然後基本上是用跑的進入遺跡。我們跳上三輪人力車，直接開往最高的金字塔。我們離開的時候約五時多，詢問處的職員告訴我們四時過後基本上是沒有回Playa del Carmen 的巴士，我們只好搭的士回Tulum了。我還是建議大家預留多一點時間在Cobá，不然就像我們一樣匆忙。

Cobá is a Mayan civilization city ruin on the Yucatán Peninsula. it was estimated that there were around 50,000 inhabitants or more at its peak and the city once covered more than 80 square kilometers. The central area of Cobá is connected with the surrounding scattered buildings by roads. Visitors can consider walking or taking a tricycle to visit the ruins. Among Cobá's many sites, La Iglesia and the "Great Pyramid" Nohoch Mul are more famous. The picture here is the Nohoch Mul which is 42 meters high and is one of the tallest building in the Mayan civilization. Nohoch Mul is still available for tourists to climb, but the pyramid is a bit steep. Although there is a rope in the middle to help tourists, I would recommend you to wear a proper dress before taking the challenge!

As we did not much days for Cancun and its surrounding areas and we did not wish to be locked up by local tour, we chose to take a day trip to Chichen and Coba by public transport.

Basically, we took the earliest bus from Playa del Carmen to Valladolid, and then took Taxi to Chichen. This will allow us to arrive upon Chichen’s opening to avoid tour crowd. Still, we overestimated the public transport system of Mexico and we ended up searching half an hour for the bus stop, and one more hour to wait for the second-class bus to Cobá. It was almost 4 o'clock when we arrived Cobá, and we basically ran into Cobá, jumped to the nearest tricycle and rushed to the highest pyramid. It was almost 5 o'clock when we left, and of course there was no bus back to Playa del Carmen.

Having seen my videos practicing the Mayan language here in Mexico, some people from the village invited me out here to experience true Mayan culture. So I decided to spend a week living in the village with a local Mayan family, practicing my Spanish and Mayan and just seeing what their traditional lifestyle is like. It was a totally different experience from being in Cancún or Tulum and it completely blew me away!

我一直以為馬丘比丘會是我們第一個造訪的世界七大奇蹟，因為我和Tony都已經念了好多年了，不過這次正好有機會來到這裡，對我來說也算是非常幸福了吧。在奇琴伊察Chichén-Itzá(或契琴伊薩)會驚訝於瑪雅人在千年以前就已經有的高度技術和知識，而走訪在這個龐大又美麗的建築群裡，似乎也就能想像到這裡從前是多麼的繁榮昌盛，讓人神往。
