Held separate virtual meetings with the advisory panels of the Singapore Economic Development Board - EDB and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) over the past two evenings.
The panels comprise leaders of MNCs and financial institutions from across the globe, who advise the EDB and MAS on our strategies. Singapore has a reputation for being open and pro-business, and our regular dialogues help keep us in touch with what businesses are focused on, as well as trends we need to watch.
We had a lot to discuss this year – sustainability, geopolitics, US-China tensions, nationalist tendencies, and whether or not COVID-19 would result in a ‘new normal’ or ‘old ++’. Some noted that with working from home becoming a necessity, having capable island-wide technological infrastructure is one of Singapore’s advantages in a post-COVID world.
I am grateful to EDB and MAS, as well as all the members of both panels, for helping Singapore to keep moving forward in an uncertain world. – LHL
