Welcome to the final events in the re-inspired Contraptions 2016 series!
Two years ago SKY_Associative was challenged to develop an architectural installation utilizing 3D printing in a collaborative project with Chimei | MODEX 3DP Filament, from it was born the Y-35 lighting installation currently exhibited in the main exhibition floor of the NCKU Creative-HUB. The Y-35 project directly confronted the scale limitations of existing 3D printing technologies measuring 2 x 3 x 5 meters after final installation.
In this event sKY_Associative extends the challenge to students participating in this workshop to “3D Print it… BIG”. Using a combination of designed 3D printed components and secondary materials/media, develop a system to make something BIG! Entries will be judged across two events, the first hosted by the C-HUB on Nov. 23rd catering to faculty + industry professionals, and the second at the NCKU Art Center from Jan. 1st - 15th for students + public. During these events students will be responsible for setting up their projects and printers for jury review and exhibition. Awards will be given based on votes collected during these two events and take into consideration design innovation, creativity, and overall “BIG-NESS”. Awards will be granted to the top 3 submissions, with additional prizes for the favorites selected at each event.
