Encircle your Problem with the Gospel to Ascend
“Yahweh said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor. All of your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days. Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the city wall shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up, every man straight in front of him.”” (Joshua 6:2-5 WEB)
My pastor, Pastor Joseph Prince, released the revelation about the winding stairs, representing us ascending higher, in the shortest time within the smallest space this year.
Suddenly the Holy Spirit reminded me of a certain story related to going in a circle.
When Joshua and the children of Israel marched around the city of Jericho, it’s like they were climbing the winding stairs, one day at a time.
Even though they were physically walking in a circle, in the spirit, were actually going higher—closer and closer to their victory.
Joshua told them to be silent—to restrain their fleshly complaints and murmurings. Instead, they were listening to the trumpets of ram’s horns being sounded.
The trumpet sound reminded them that a ram had to be slain to make that trumpet. It possibly reminded them that Yahweh provided a ram in Isaac’s place for Abraham.
Who does this ram represent? It is a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ who was slain as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
In other words, every time the priests sounded the trumpets of ram’s horns, they were proclaiming the Lord’s death at the cross.
When you come to a city of Jericho in your life—a seemingly indestructible problem, surround it by hearing the Gospel—how Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection has made you righteous and worthy to receive every blessing and deliverance from God.
The walls of Jericho didn’t crack at all during those first six days.
Even though it seems like there’s nothing happening in the natural, every time you hear God’s word and believe it, you’re ascending higher on the winding stairs to a place of purer faith.
It may not take seven days, but the “seven” is a picture of perfection or completion.
When unbelief has been perfectly cast out of your heart through receiving messages of God’s love, grace and goodness towards you, then your Jericho is ready to fall.
When you confess and believe in your victory based on Jesus’ finished work at the cross, that problem before you shall surely crumble.
It’s easy to shout at any time, but the journey to an effective, wall-destroying shout is all about casting unbelief out of your heart.
It may seem really repetitive, but God’s role assigned for us as believers is that simple: just hear about Jesus, believe it and speak what you believe.
That’s the kind of faith that tears down the walls of Jericho!

Zawa Mountain is located 900m above sea level and 350m above the western Semel plain. Since decades, its hilltop and slopes have experienced consistent deforestation resulting in a grassland rocky landscape, which is now largely devoid of trees. Nevertheless, it contains a low density of shrubs and serves as a potential key recreational facility for Duhok city, metropolitan region, and the metropolis region/province; Kurdistan region; as well as the country because of its prominent location that oversees Duhok city and farther Duhok Lake at the north, Semel town and the Tigris River at the west, Mosul Lake at the south-west, and a cluster of small towns and extensive plains at the south. Although it is relatively undeveloped, Zawa Mountain has become popular for tourists. It provides spectacular panoramic views towards all aforementioned urban places and lakes, in addition to the surrounding landscapes and mountains because it has natural high vantage points, a naturalistic quality that provides it with great potential assets and focus for tourism.
Currently, the local people use these points to enjoy distant views. They drive up the mountain especially to enjoy sunset and entertain themselves often through picnics and barbecue gatherings.
This mountain has been a significant cultural location since the Assyrian Period as it contains Maltai (currently Halamata cave) that includes, on its northern slopes, carvings relief depicting the Assyrian king and the principal Assyrian gods, and burial chambers dating back to 8th century BCE. In addition, archaeological excavations at the northern foot of the Mountain namely in Shendokha village, have led to discovery of many ancient antiques.

2017法鼓山大事記 福慧傳家(英文)
For 2017, Dharma Drum Mountain chose “Bring Blessings and Wisdom Home” as the theme of the year, to urge people to practice Buddhist compassion and wisdom for peace of mind and family, thus growing in meritorious blessings and wisdom. Master Sheng Yen launched the Six Ethics of the Mind movement, and 10 years on DDM has been promoting the movement by exploring its various dimensions, including family, school, and workplace ethics. The Jinshan Eco-friendly Memorial Garden on Dharma Drum Mountain has been in use for 10 years, and the practice of natural burial has become increasingly accepted in Taiwan society. Launched 15 years ago, the grants for needy students have helped nearly 40,000 students overcome their financial difficulties and facilitated their study.
