20 years ago today, the horrific terror attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York City changed the world forever.
The danger to us was nearer than we imagined. We discovered among us a terrorist group that was planning similar attacks on multiple targets here. Fortunately ISD acted in time to prevent this, and subsequent attacks.
The greater threat for multi-racial and multi-religious Singapore was not physical, but whether this would damage our social cohesion. We drew on the trust built up over many years among our different communities and with the Government. Working together, we overcame powerful forces unleashed by the extremist attacks that could have pulled us apart.
The fight against terrorism is far from over. Digital media has allowed extremist ideologies to spread and poison minds. At the same time, our racial harmony is still work in progress. On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, let us resolve to fortify ourselves so that should we ever face another such test one day, we will come through again, stronger, as one united people.

在華文世界裡面，由於人們對民權的基本概念分得不是那麼仔細，甚至時有混淆，故普遍認為「示威」冠以「反政府」是理所當然的。而在獨裁者眼中，「反政府」字面就是「推翻政權」的意思，因此——黨官們一致將「2019年反政府示威」定性為「顛覆政權活動」。
這是一個好好的例子，說明失據的字義如何為失控的政治演繹提供了溫床。在法庭的控辯角力，大眾可以見到他們如何扭盡六壬將一些模糊字眼砌詞扭成自己想要的入罪意思，「將說話塞進別人的嘴巴」。在這種政治辯證的框架之下，要求基本自由也足以被提升到顛覆政權的程度。
另一邊廂，《紐約時報》今日卻因為一條新聞標題而被人圍插，皆因他們將古巴人對自由的呼喊降格成一種反政府的行為。看看留言就能理解《紐時》的用字為何會得罪大家：

I’m old enough to remember when Freedom didn’t mean anti-government but anti-tyrant.
有人仍是不明白，反問道：「為甚麼爭取自由不是一句反政府口號呢？」
有人給予了一個強而有力的回答：
「Because it seems the NYT thinks wanting freedom is anti-government.」

自由是寫入憲法的應有之義，極權卻在灌輸大眾以為爭取自由是一種反政府行為，把政府和政權劃上等號，用這種致命的邏輯要求大眾放棄對自由的追求，營造一種偽對立：你要求自由，你就是不愛國；擁護國家，就要敵視爭取自由的人。
最終把爭取自由者全都塑造成威脅國家的敵人。

Certain Altered Items known as Objects of Power cause AWEs, and can be used in-game to gain new abilities. The FBC contains Altered Items within the Oldest House, a featureless Brutalist skyscraper in Manhattan that acts as the agency's headquarters. The Oldest House itself is considered a "Place of Power," and is vastly larger on the inside than on the outside, breaking the laws of reality. The Oldest House is connected to alternate dimensions which are studied by the FBC. Otherworldly forces leak into the Oldest House, including the Hiss, an unidentified force which acts as Control's main antagonist. During the events of the game, the Hiss invades the Oldest House and the FBC, and Jesse Faden is tasked with regaining control of the supernatural building and restoring order to the Bureau.
Jesse Faden arrives at the Federal Bureau of Control in search of her younger brother, Dylan, who was kidnapped by the Bureau in their childhood after a supernatural event occurred in their hometown of Ordinary. Arriving at the Oldest House, the FBC's supernatural headquarters, Jesse finds it under attack by a hostile force known only as "the Hiss," which possesses the FBC's agents and corrupts the building. After Zachariah Trench, the Bureau's Director, is killed mysteriously, Jesse is unexpectedly deemed to be the new Director after she is chosen to wield the Service Weapon, a supernatural Object of Power which determines the Bureau's leadership. Wielding a host of supernatural powers, Jesse is tasked with defeating the Hiss and restoring order to the Oldest House. Along the way, she locates the scattered surviving agents of the FBC, including Research Specialist Emily Pope, Security Chief Simon Arish, Head of Research Casper Darling, Head of Operations Helen Marshall, and Head of Security Salvador.
