這些年寫了這麼多文章，也做了不少的資料整理，最有價值、以及最有感的事，就是每隔一段時間在回顧某些時候的產業發展，再對比現今的情況，雖不至於到「不勝唏噓」的狀況，倒也相差不遠！
今天的 #假日讀書時間 來回顧這篇是 2016 年、不到五年前的文章，這些廠商們現今的情況如何呢？
老傢伙們至今都還健在，除了 Dell EMC 兩家親外，有些已經調整方向，慢步飄離我們的視野。Quantum 想給人家買沒賣掉，如今重新站穩腳步，看來似乎也還不差。
新創的公司裡，有些還在新創、也沒有 IPO 像 ExaGrid；
有些 IPO 後掛了，進入破產保護，又被私募買了，然後 blablabla⋯⋯像 Violin Memory；
有些被買了（新創的目的之一），像 Nimble Storage 和 Simplivity 被 HPE 買了、Tegile 被 WD 買了、Tingri 被 DDN 買了；
有些 IPO 了（新創的目的之二），像 Nutanix 和 Pure Storage，不過還在賠錢就是了。
在任何一個產業裡，新創公司的出現是產業發展一個很重要的關鍵，不少的新創有著擊落巨人的遠大志向，這當然需要不同凡響的領導人才有可能成真！被大/老公司收購，是相對比較沒那麼賺錢、但容易達成的目標。IPO 困難度高，當然收穫也比較大；但在 IPO 後如何長期經營下去，困難度可能比 IPO 還要高！
