Teaching our Children
“Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates; that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.” (Deuteronomy 11:18-21 WEB)
God wants us (parents) to teach our children. Nowadays there are many ways to outsource education, but we cannot leave our children completely in the hands of the secular education system.
The most important thing to teach our children from infancy is : God’s word. Teaching is not about seating them in front of a desk with a thick Bible and going through chapter by chapter.
Be led by the Holy Spirit, and whenever an appropriate teaching moment arises, use the chance to talk about Jesus and make the faith real and practical in your children’s lives.
For example, if your child fell down and scraped his knee, just comfort him and pray together, declaring that Jesus’ healing power is entering the wound to fix it.
Before each meal, thank Jesus for the food and declare it sanctified in Jesus’ name. Tell your children that the Lord is specially preparing the food to be clean, good, and healthy for them.
Whenever possible, quote portions of Scripture to etch it in your children’s hearts. “Wow look at all these gifts that we received! Praise Jesus—the Lord is truly our Shepherd, and we shall not lack!”
Teach them Gospel truths—what is applicable under the New Covenant of Grace. Definitely don’t make them recite or memorize the Ten Commandments of the Law.
The Gospel has a prospering effect. It has the power to save from every trouble. As a parent, and especially if you are a father, you are also entrusted with the role of leading your children in their spiritual growth.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 WEB)
By the leading of the Holy Spirit, build a strong foundation of faith for your children, and they will greatly benefit from it throughout their lives!
When I wrote the book “Sandcastles Don’t Last Forever” the compiled truths within were designed for the whole family. It is so important that our children know from young that we do our best in life for the Lord’s sake, to worship Him, and that He is the one who will reward us. There is no need to live for the praise of men. This belief alone will save them from many disappointments and heartaches.
There are so many great lessons about eternal rewards in the book. I hope you can get it (either the eBook or a paperback copy) and share the truths with your children in a relatable way, after digesting the revelations yourself: http://bit.ly/sandcastlesdontlastforever

An example to help you see the difference between knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.
Knowledge:
By His stripes we are healed.
If you can quote or remember a Bible verse, that is having godly knowledge. Knowledge by itself is not useful if we don’t understand it. We can only understand the Scriptures through the Holy Spirit who gives our mind the ability to understand.
Understanding:
Jesus paid the price for me to freely received healing as a gift. His precious blood that was shed at the whipping post and at the cross is a massive overpayment for my sin debt. Jesus also carried all my sicknesses at the cross so that I wouldn’t have to do so myself. Now that I have been made righteous through faith in Jesus, I have the right to receive every blessing from God—and healing is one of them.
Understanding a piece of knowledge is still not fully useful until you apply it.
Wisdom:
Even though I feel this symptom in my body, I know that it has no right to remain here. Healing is mine because Jesus paid the price for me to freely receive God’s blessings! “By His stripes I am healed!”
With knowledge in the mind and understanding in the heart, we can release the potential power of God’s word by acting upon the knowledge that we understand—and this is having wisdom.
Knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. The combination of all three will cause miracles to break forth! Learn how to receive miracle-working faith for every breakthrough: https://bit.ly/messiahs-miracles

Throwback v4
"When there's a will, there's a way"
My favourite quote.
I have always been envious of my Singaporean debating friends.
They were the top of Asia then, unbeaten.
They flew the Singaporean flag high at every international competition.
They had a robust debating community from Primary School to university, where the best of the best will go to Oxford, Cambridge & NUS to then conquer the worlds debating scene.
It annoyed me that the international community knew Malaysia as the country "next to Singapore".
It intrigued me then, how a university like NUS can beat the best debaters in the world from Oxford, Harvard & Sydney.
I started "stalking" the debaters from Singapore.
I watched all of their speeches on Youtube & would attend as many competitions in Singapore.
I remember being so obsessed in being as good as them, that i memorised some of their speeches (word-by-word) & even dressed & spoke like one of them.
In the end, it's all about willpower.
When i was in the foundation centre of IIUM, we would have many training sessions during semester break.
Unfortunately, the dorms would be closed then. The Uni admin shut down the electricity to ensure no one overstayed.
I didn't have money to stay elsewhere as my home was in Johor & i really wanted to train.
So, i sneaked myself into my dorm during semester break & stayed there for weeks without electricity.
I'll jump the fence every night to buy food across the road.
Every morning i'd be at the academic block with the other debaters training & to charge my laptop so that i could train on my own, in my dark dark room at night.
That's when i knew there were no ghosts at my dorm (Mahallah Aisyah ), despite all the horror stories i heard, as i stayed there alone for weeks without electricity.
Fast forward, when i first started uni debating, Singapore was at the top of Asia.
By the time i ended, Malaysia conquered Asia. I was awarded Best Speaker of Asia x3 times & Malaysia would consistently be in the Top 10 teams in the world.
My juniors would break many more records which stamped Malaysia's name in the eyes of the world.
"You'll never beat Malaysia", the chant which i will never forget.
