關於自己決定離開印城，PG 知道這事肯定是無法圓滿解決的。
「我能理解大家的沮喪，我也知道很多人會很傷心，但我想提醒大家一件事，各位球迷朋友們可能很難體會，做為職業籃球運動員，只有極少數人能擁有爭冠機會，而這對我們來說是最重要的(勝過任何事)。我想為印城帶來冠軍，我真的很想，我愛印城，這裡永遠都會是我生命中最特別的地方，我很抱歉未能遵守諾言，但我其實不確定我們是否能打造出一支爭冠球隊，這就是問題所在。」
PG 覺得溜馬正在走向重建。(KP 可能不同意這個說法)
「我覺得溜馬爭冠的大門已然關上，我認為球團想走的方向已和我想要的大不相同。如果球團不想要我打這最後一年的話(已告知約滿會走人)，我會希望他們能用我去換一些資產回來幫助溜馬。」
「我想要在一個好的體系中打球，一支好的球隊，我渴望贏球，願意為此付出任何事。我不是一個追求個人數據的人，我打球是為了贏球，以及建立贏球的傳統，我仍然這樣做，也在尋找中。如果我在雷霆能有一番新的作為，例如打進西冠，甚至擊敗勇士晉級的話，誰會想離開這樣一個團隊啊！」
當然，和西河一起打球不會受傷(什麼啦)。
「我對溜馬制服組的要求就是再給我多一點幫助(幫手)。但現在，我在雷霆有了好多好多幫手。我想我能和西河共存的，我了解他的打法，他也對我很熟悉，我認為我們可以互補，我的得分能力能幫助他清開空間，我可以和他一起跑快攻，我也可以持球為他創造輕鬆得分的機會，他的無球可以撕裂任何人。」
以上，先前溜馬迷不知道 PG 到底在想什麼，現在他說出來了，但也不關溜馬迷的事了。
“There’s no right way to handle it,” George said of his decision to leave. “I get the frustration. I get why people are upset. But at the same time, I want the average fan to understand that we only get a small window to play this game and more than anything you want to be able to play for a championship. I wanted to bring that to Indiana. I really did. I love Indiana. That will always be a special place for me and I’m sorry for not holding on. But I wasn’t sure we’d ever get a team together to compete for a championship and that’s where all this came from.”
He said he "kind of felt a rebuild coming" in Indiana.
“I felt like the window had closed," he said. "I thought they were going in a different direction and I wanted to go in a different direction. I wanted them to have the opportunity to get something back if they didn’t want me to play that last year.”
"I want to be in a good system, a good team. I want a shot to win it," he said. "I’m not a stats guy. I’m playing this game to win and build a legacy of winning. I’ve yet to do that. I’m searching for it. If we get a killer season in Oklahoma, we make the conference finals or upset the Warriors or do something crazy, I’d be dumb to want to leave that.”
Of course, playing with Westbrook doesn't hurt.
“All I was asking for was a little help in Indy. Now I’m getting a lot of help in Oklahoma," he said. "I think I fit with how he plays and vice versa. Being a knock-down shooter, I think I can spread the floor for him and run the floor with him. But I also think I can help get him easier opportunities, being able to drive and dish the ball out, so he can attack guys closing out on him.”
