2013年從微電影《果汁刮刮樂》開啟編導之路，2015年《台北據我們所知》入圍加州長灘獨立國際影展&喬治亞州城市媒體製作人影展。2013年至2020年主導歌手梁心頤 Lara Veronin 音樂影像。主力編導演出的《妹娃日記》將「偽紀錄片」風潮帶入台灣吸引50萬人次點閱，監製 Still Better Than Love獲洛杉磯亞太影展參展特選。首部長片《明日之星》在2018上映並於2020年受邀上架各數位平台。

Esther started her film career with the short “Scratch-and-Win”. 2015’s “Taipei As We Know It (TAWKI)” was accepted into the Long Beach International Film Festival (LBIFF) and the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival in Georgia. From 2013 to 2020 Esther was the visual director for all of singer Lara Liang’s self-released music. As head-writer and lead of “Meiwa Diaries”, she helped pave the way for Taiwan’s mockumentary scene. She also produced “Still Better Than Love”, which was shortlisted in the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Esther’s first full-length film “Tomorrow’s Star” was released in theaters 2018 and is now available on select VOD platforms.

在太平洋島上有一個稱為 Niwata 的島嶼, 長期遭受各式各樣的破壞與汙染, 於公元 2014 年夏天一場無預警的大規模的核爆後，島嶼從此荒廢也充滿了各式各樣的輻射。

公元 4102 年，Niwata 遭世人遺忘了超過兩千年後，有一種新物種因而產生，正在緩慢地滋長。新物種動向不明，無法確定是否善類。島嶼是否因而重生亦或嚴重二度腐滅，亦不得而知。

About the work

Niwata, an island in east Pacific Ocean, suffered under variety of long-term environment damages and pollutions. After a massive nuclear explosion In the summer of year 2014, Niwata became a deserted island and was fully covered by all kinds of radiation.

Year 4012, when the world has forgotten Niwata for nearly two thousand years, there is a new species, appearing in slow growing. The new species is unable to determine in category. Niwata therefore rebirths or being decomposed completely, is also unknown.

Alena Murang is one of the first and few females to play the sape', drawing on her heritage to share stories in native languages of Sarawak, a Malaysian state on the island of Borneo. Her music evocatively captures the lyrical, mystical essence of native traditions endangered by rapid, relentless modernization. Alena’s alluring, mellifluous voice lends an angelic purity and ethereal dimension to the earthy simplicity and soul-soothing quality of these enchanting longhouse ditties. Her consummate skill on the sape’ and other instruments like the pagang (tube zither) gives a polished sheen to the entire production. Growing up between two worlds – the indigenous and the cosmopolitan – she effortlessly bridges both. The result is a melodious (and slightly melancholy) compilation of Kelabit and Kenyah songs with a refreshing contemporary sound and spirit. Her live shows journeyed from Rainforest World Music Festival Malaysia to Førde Traditional and World Music Festival Norway, South by Southwest USA, Oz Asia Festival Australia, Etnosur Festival Spain, Colours of Ostrava Czech Republic and Wonderfruit Festival Thailand. She was a UNESCO Youth Ambassador in 2017 and is a youth advisor to UNESCO Asia Pacific. In 2018 she was awarded the Miri Mayor award for Tourism.

Visited Taiwan in July 2017 for 9 days and this time round, we managed to cover quite a few places, and even got to see the Taiwan International Balloon Festival and a free outdoor concert in Hualien!

Getting around Taiwan is pretty easy even if you're backpacking, we got around everywhere mainly on the Taiwan Railway (TRA) across different cities and took the Tourism Shuttle within the city to all the places we went (:
