If your kids are animal lovers like mine, then they will definitely love watching Dolittle!
While I was more interested to see Robert Downey Jr. acting as Dr. Dolittle, the famed doctor and vet who has an amazing ability to converse with animals, and the epic adventures he was going to encounter, the kids were more fascinated by his animals friends and tickled by all their silly antics. The big girl was saying "I wish I can talk like that to animals and bugs too!" and I think this aspiring entomologist of mine would honestly like that. If only hor.
The younger ones were ecstatic to watch the show with their good friends and it's cute to see how much louder their laughter gets when they are all seated together. Yup, friendship just makes the world a better place, as the movie reminds us.
I guess the hubby and I went in with our expectations naturally set high and perhaps due to the rather predictable plot, the show was not as hilarious as we thought it would be. Still, it is a family movie worth watching and besides seeing the talented Robert Downey Jr. in action as the lead character, there is also an incredible voice cast for the animals, including John Cena as Yoshi the polar bear (He's our favourite! Have you watched Playing with Fire which stars him as the lead? It is super entertaining!), Rami Malek as Chee-Chee the gorilla, Emma Thompson as Polynesia the macaw, Tom Holland as Jip the dog and Selena Gomez as Betsy the giraffe. My kids are absolutely inspired to try speaking in animal languages from now on, haha, and the important thing is they said they truly enjoyed this show and had an awesome time.
