1) Try my hand in something: To try working in some jobs
--->> Nghĩa tiếng Việt: thử sức làm công việc gì đấy
- Ví dụ: Are you a student or are you working?
Well, I'm currently working as an accountant in a local real estate firm. I have tried my hands in a number of other finance jobs, but I always find myself coming back to accounting.
2) Once in a blue moon: when something rare happens
--->> Nghĩa tiếng Việt: thỉnh thoảng, hiếm khi
- Ví dụ: Do you prefer to eat out or at home?
Actually, given the fact that I was raised in a Vietnamese family, I have always preferred to eat at home with my parents. We rarely go out to eat, but once in a blue moon we do go to a restaurant for a change.
3) Blown away: extremely impressed by something
- Ví dụ: Who is your favorite singer?
I listen to a lot of genres and artists, so it's a tough call to decide which one is my favorite. But I would have to say it's Son Tung MTP. He is all the rage in Vietnam right now, probably the most popular male performer. When I saw him live in concert, I was absolutely blown away by his talent.
4) Under the weather: to feel ill or not well
--->> Nghĩa tiếng Việt: cảm giác "chầy", khó chịu, chẳng muốn làm gì hoặc nói chuyện với ai
- Ví dụ: Do you like going to the cinema?
In all actuality, it is one of the activities I enjoy doing the most. It's a lot of fun going to the movies with friends. I think watching a film in the theater is a great way to feel better if you're feeling a bit under the weather.
5) A big fan of something: to really like something
--->> Nghĩa tiếng Việt: thích cái gì
- Ví dụ: What food do you like?
Well it depends on the season, really. In the summery months when the weather can get quite sweltering, I naturally go for something cool, preferably with ice, like ice cream or Vietnamese sweet soup. By contrast, if it's in the colder months, I like to eat something hot and steamy like hot pot or barbecue. I am a big fan of these types of sharing dishes.
