Vaccination - satu perkataan yang hangat diperkatakan sekarang, kan? It’s important that we play our part to get vaccinated against Covid-19 so that we can achieve herd immunity and keep each other safe. The same for rabies. In the last few years, Sarawak has seen a rise in rabies cases, and we need to work together to prevent unnecessary losses.
So let’s talk about rabies. All mammals - including dogs, cats and humans, can catch rabies. It’s an incurable (but preventable) virus that attacks the brain and spinal cord. A mammal catches rabies by getting bitten by, or coming into contact with the saliva of another infected animal.
Rabies CAN BE PREVENTED through vaccination, and in Sarawak, the government has a FREE anti-rabies vaccination programme for dogs, through Jabatan Perkhidmatan Verterinar Sarawak or the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak.
