Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) on Monday presented the Order of Brilliant Star with Violet Grand Cordon to Sven Håkan Oskar Jevrell, the outgoing head of the Swedish Trade and Invest Council in Taipei, in honor of his efforts and contributions to promoting bilateral relations between the two countries.

It was an honour to meet Hakan Jevrell, Representative from the Swedish Trade and Invest Council, on his visit with Mayor Ko of Taipei City.
Most Taiwanese people are already familiar with Swedish international brands like Volvo, Spotify, H&M and IKEA - have had a long and successful presence here - and Taiwan is also one of the main suppliers of technology to Sweden from Asia.
In the visit, we covered the matches between Stockholm-based Ericsson, a world leader in telecommunications technology and the growth of 5G in Taiwan; the implementation of electric buses in Taipei with support from Stockholm, the world's first capital with fossil-free fuel buses and exchanged ideas on air quality and waste management practices.
There is great potential for the Swedish-Taiwan partnership, with our shared values and opportunities to collaborate. It was a pleasure to host Mr Jevrell, and I look forward to keeping in touch!

The Global Cooperation and Training Framework is back this September! This time we are focusing on the issue of media literacy. In addition to Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, the American Institute in Taiwan and the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, we are very glad to welcome our new partners, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council, the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute to join this wonderful event.
During the two days of training, 32 participants from 12 countries will gather to figure out how to foster civil society organizations to combat malicious fake news that undermines our democratic values.
In the battle to defend democracy, Taiwan is not alone!
