日本人っぽい英語を脱却する「It would be」の使い方
=================================
「～できたらいいのにな・・・」と表現する際、“wish”を使って文章を考える人が多いと思いますが、ネイティブは“It would be nice”を使って願望を伝えることがよくあります。今日は、ネイティブが日常会話でよく使う“It would be nice”の意味と使い方をご紹介します。

1) It would be nice to ~
→「〜だといいな」
--------------------------------------------------
“It would be nice to 〜”は「〜だといいな」や「〜できたらいいな」を意味する表現です。海が大好きな人が海岸沿いにある家を見ながら、“It would be nice to live by the beach one day.（いつか海の近くに住めたらいいな）”のように自分の夢や願望をさりげなく呟く状況で使われることもあれば、“It would be nice to go to Europe together this year.（今年、一緒にヨーロッパ旅行にいけたらいいね）”のように、相手に間接的に提案をするような状況で使うこともできます。

＜例文＞
It would be nice to have a big car like this.
（こんな大きな車があったらいいな）
It would be nice to see you this weekend. Let me know if you can make it.
（今週末、あなたに会えたら嬉しいな。来れるなら連絡して）
It would be nice to take a year off from work and travel the world.
（仕事を1年間休んで、世界中を旅行できたらいいな）

2) It would be nice if ~
→「〜なら幸いです・嬉しいです」

「もし〜ならいいのですが」や「〜なら幸いです」のように、丁寧に依頼や申し出をするときは“It would be nice if you could 〜”の形式が使われます。例えば、ホテルにチェックインする際、ホテルのスタッフが「海が見えるお部屋に空きがないか確認しましょうか？」と気遣ってくれた際に「そうしていただけるとありがたいです」と返答するときは、“It would be nice if you could do that.”のように言います。日常会話ではniceの代わりにgreatもよく使われます。
＜例文＞
It would be nice if you could help out tonight.
（今夜手伝ってくれたら嬉しいです）
It would be nice if you could join us for dinner tomorrow.
（明日、一緒に食事に参加していただけたら嬉しいです）
It would be great if you could take care of my cat while I’m traveling.
（私が旅行している間、猫の面倒を見てもらえると嬉しいです）

Hey, guys. Welcome back to the vlogging series Euro Trip 2018. Part 6 will see us once again waking up super early to catch our flight to a new destination. But this time around, I have never felt this much anticipation as we looked to set foot on the heavenly Santorini.
Before the trip, some people have mentioned that Santorini was overrated. However, I completely disagree. If you know when to enjoy Santorini at its best, you will fully be able to take in this magnificent place. The architecture, the landscape, the views you get from every angle - just absolutely breathtaking!
When we arrived at 4AM, we took a while to consider whether to skip sleep and just go for it and catch the sunrise. But once we had the balls to do it, that decision turned out to pay off pretty well! The feeling you get when you’re strolling down the streets of Oia, taking photos and videos, having the entire place to yourself and not having to queue or wait... is just amazing!
I have already shown you how beautiful this island is so there really is not much left for me to say that would help paint the picture even further. See you all tomorrow on our second day in Santorini! ????
