Explore Your Backyard 2021
registration for Early Birds finish by today.

It is one of most popular trail running event in Taipei. This year we are back in Tucheng. Tough course of 23km designed by Beast Runners 跑山獸 (you may complain in some sections...), 13km for who love speed or who is new in trail running, 7km is hike or run.

Great atmosphere, good food, good drinks in venue as usually with Runivore 跑食族 crew. Please help us SHARE this event, seems it will be only one event for Taipei in 2021.

Trail Running events are not only about course, but about people.
over 3 days Formosa Trail had ~120 volunteers and supporters. To give full care on course and great show in event base took so much effort but we all love it.

Deep in Nantou mountains where Formosa Trial located, this is a historical route with the aboriginal tribe reminds man of the fading past. A foreign man who married and stayed in Taiwan had explored this mystery little by little, his full-hearted passion even astonished the old hunters.

They are Seediq, every step they take on the way home shows how they attached to this land. We are not just to conquer a trial, we are the witness of the culture, of the history, our footprint will remain on the land where the old tribe used be great. We are honored to participate this event, to have a peek at the myths and legends of Seediq.

FORMOSA TRAIL 福爾摩沙古
main loop with my wife Eva Lobo. This course is maintained by Petr Novotny and @Beast Runners 跑山獸 since 2015 for Formosa Trail trail running event. This main circle is 22km long with significant elevation gain of 1700m. Average trail runner need 6 hours as we did, however average hiker should count with 10 hours.


This course is mid-altitude mountains on east from Puli 埔里. Course is beautiful with pleasant forest and several views. Even during hot summer day temperature in this forest is nice. All course is single track with several challenging parts, last 6km are downhill on concrete road.

Formosa Trail 福爾摩沙古
event is held every year last weekend of November and runners participate in 16, 40, 75 and 104km with start in Solas Hotel 天泉溫泉水 on Liyutan lake 鯉魚潭. Formosa Trail is very popular trail running event among overseas runners from Japan and Hong Kong.

If you go explore never forget to have GPS (with uploaded GPX) and all equipment and food and water for whole day.

CU is new event of Beast Runners 跑山獸
with unique concept, connect indigenous tribes and beautiful mountains of Taiwan. Challenging but very scenic course was designed for ultra runners - mountaineers. Base of event is in tribes of Da'an creek 臺中大安溪好好玩—原民見學旅遊
and we hope participants will fully enjoy weekend in central Taiwan.
