Maliau Basin, “Sabah’s Lost World” is one of Borneo’s least travelled gems. It is a bowl of pristine forest encircled by insurmountable cliffs and steep slopes up to 1,500m in height. The whole basin is a single water catchment drained by numerous tributaries of the Maliau River. While the local Murut people have known about the area, it has remained relatively untouched by the Western world for centuries. It was not until 1988 that a major scientific expedition explored this virtually self-contained ecosystem. Filled with plentiful waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife - over 2,000 recorded types of fauna and flora - Maliau Basin Conservation Area is one of the few remaining relatively untouched wilderness areas in the world.

With Corona concerns at every corner for the last few months, it’s been a little crazy to say the least! The only thing more overwhelming is the love and support we’ve been receiving from patients and friends alike!

Today I react to and review the most popular language learning apps and platforms, including Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, Memrise, Babbel, and Pimsleur. I regularly discuss language learning methods on my channel, including strategies for memorizing large amounts of vocabulary through spaced repetition software like Anki and making sure to speak your target language constantly (in person or via websites like Italki), but today we’re going to take a look at some of the most popular commercial, mass-market apps and websites for learning languages.

It was an odd experience as I usually don’t use these types of platforms for language learning, but there definitely were some gems among them! (And this video is not sponsored, by the way.)
