Exactly this. Kudos to all essential workers. Esp the unsung heroes who are always working behind the scenes tiredlesy and unselfishly. We salute you 💯💯 Thank you for sharing, ur dad is a great man. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
My dad is an essential worker.
No, he is not a doctor or a nurse, he also could not read or write. He is but a hardworking man who keeps our streets and parks clean and has been for the past four decades of his life.
But people like my dad, not forgetting countless others in other essential services such as our food delivery riders, public transport operators and supermarket staff play as important a role in keeping our country moving in the midst of this extremely trying period. My dad and other essential workers continue being out and about - placing themselves exposed to this hidden enemy. This worries me more because my dad is a senior citizen, making him among the vulnerable subset of our community.
I take this moment to urge everybody to take the circuit breaker with utmost seriousness. Play your part in keeping our seniors, loved ones and families safe and to not overwhelm our frontline workers. While they do appreciate the singalongs, claps and cheers that we have been giving thus far, the greatest form of respect and tribute that you could offer in your own capabilities to them is by simply staying at home. It's already a difficult period, so let's not be a difficult people.
Please, let's do some good together by staying home for our seniors, staying home for our frontline workers, #stayinghomeforSG.
P.S. When I sneakily took this photo of my dad getting ready for work earlier today during Sahur, I was feeling overwhelmed looking at how extraordinary of a man my father is and how unbelievably proud and lucky I am to be his son - no matter what society views him as.
I ask Allah SWT to protect him, bless him with health and happiness in this world and the highest level of Paradise in the hereafter for the wonders that he have done for my mom, brothers and I since the day he asked my mom for her hand in marriage and in starting a family together. Amin.

You Have God’s DNA in Your Inward Spirit-Man
“Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently: having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever. For, “All flesh is like grass, and all of man’s glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls; but the Lord’s word endures forever.” This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.” (1 Peter 1:22-25 WEB)
The word “seed” in the passage above in Greek is sporas which refers to seeds that are sown.
God’s word is this incorruptible seed that is sown into our hearts every time we receive it.
Each time it is mixed with faith, it grows roots and starts to mature, before bearing fruit.
However, today I just want to focus on receiving God’s word for salvation.
Every time God’s word is sown in an unbeliever, whether by a preacher, through reading a book, or some other way, this incorruptible seed is landing on their heart.
Take a look at Jesus’ parable of the sower and the seeds:
“He spoke to them many things in parables, saying, “Behold, a farmer went out to sow. As he sowed, some seeds fell by the roadside, and the birds came and devoured them. Others fell on rocky ground, where they didn’t have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of earth. When the sun had risen, they were scorched. Because they had no root, they withered away. Others fell among thorns. The thorns grew up and choked them. Others fell on good soil, and yielded fruit: some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”” (Matthew 13:3-9 WEB)
This parable represents different types of unbelievers and their different responses to the sowing of God’s word in their hearts.
1. Some hear and don’t believe
2. Some believe but shortly fall away because of fear of persecution and not being rooted in God’s word
3. Some believe and are distracted from their true calling because of worldliness
4. Some believe and become fruitful in all areas of their lives for God’s glory, producing an abundance of good works which heaps up eternal rewards for them to be revealed in the Millennium.
In the apostle John’s letter, he likens God’s word to a sperm:
“No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God’s seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again—who is reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are clearly identified: anyone who does not practice righteousness [who does not seek God’s will in thought, action, and purpose] is not of God, nor is the one who does not [unselfishly] love his [believing] brother.” (1 JOHN 3:9-10 AMP)
The word “seed” in the passage above in Greek is sperma which is sperm.
When the sperm of God’s word fuses with the fertile egg in the faith-filled heart of our inward spirit-man, the result is a spiritual rebirth.
“For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard didn’t profit them, because it wasn’t mixed with faith by those who heard.” (Hebrews 4:2 WEB)
“Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures...Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:18, 21)
Through this process, we become “born-again”. When we are born-again, we are new creatures that have God’s DNA inside our spirit, telling it to produce good works and walk in love, in alignment with God’s character.
“Jesus answered them, “Isn’t it written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods?’ If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can’t be broken), do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God?’” (John 10:34-36 WEB)
We have been born again through having faith in God’s word to become gods—that’s what it means to be a child of God.
Every creature gives birth after its own kind.
A lion gives birth to a lion cub and a sheep gives birth to a lamb.
When God’s Spirit gives birth to a new spirit, it becomes a god (lowercase g—the upper case G is reserved for our Creator).
Dear brethren, you have God’s DNA in your spirit telling and empowering it to walk in love and be fruitful in good works.
We once had no ability to do this when our spirits were still dead in sin, but now there has been a huge change.
The more aware you are of this truth, the more you can live out the truth that’s inside you.

Hot-shooting Allen Iverson had 31 points and eight assists as
the Philadelphia 76ers took advantage of Shaquille O'Neal's
absence and defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 105-95.
Iverson shot 12-of-21 from the field and had four steals as the
76ers won for the fourth time in their last seven games after
beginning the season with five consecutive losses. The 1997
Rookie of the Year is shooting 49 percent from the field this
season after managing just 41 percent last season.
Jim Jackson recorded 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds
for Philadelphia, which stopped a three-game losing streak
against Los Angeles.
"The key to the win was how we sustasined our momentum," Jackson
said. "Collective efforts, concentration, rebounding and a lack
of unforced turnovers will help carry us over."
Elden Campbell had 19 points, seven rebounds and five blocked
shots and Philadelphia area native Kobe Bryant also scored 19
points for the Lakers, who have lost two of their last three
games after beginning the season 11-0, the best start in club
history. O'Neal missed his fourth straight game with an
abdominal strain.
"I wanted to win, but rebounding really killed us," Bryant said.
"With us being a successful team, every team is coming after us.
We just could not get it done on the defensive boards and in the
end it really hurt us."
"It's a big difference when you've got a guy driving down the
lane all the time laying the ball up," said Los Angeles point
guard Nick Van Exel. "That's when you really miss the big
fella."
Iverson began and ended an 8-1 third-quarter spurt that gave
Philadelphia the lead for good. His driving layup made it 61-59
with seven minutes left and his reverse layup gave the Sixers a
67-60 advantage with 4:45 remaining.
"The whole second half was the key. We just played great in the
second half," Iverson said. "I think the guys that came off the
bench gave us a great spark. It was something we desperately
needed because we kept coming up short in all of these games.
And we've been in every game."
Philadelphia center Eric Montross had seven of his season-high
12 rebounds in the third period, when the 76ers outscored the
Lakers, 24-16.
"Montross was terrific, especially in the third quarter," said
Philadelphia coach Larry Brown. "He played with a lot more
confidence. If he continues to play like this, he will continue
to get minutes."
"I'm trying to let the game come to me," Montross said. "I just
have to be within the flow. That is a bigger part more than
anything else. Nobody expected us to win. We played unselfishly
and outrebounded them."
Rookie Tim Thomas contributed 11 points and six rebounds in 14
minutes and Clarence Weatherspoon added nine and eight as the
Sixers outrebounded the Lakers, 51-35, depite playing without
leading rebounder Derrick Coleman. Coleman, who is averaging 9.2
boards, missed his third straight game with an irregular
heartbeat and may not return until January.
The Sixers maintained a 75-68 lead after three periods but the
Lakers drew within 80-78 when Bryant sank a three-pointer with
9:31 remaining. Iverson answered with a basket and a
three-pointer before Terry Cummings followed with a turnaround
jumper, giving Philadelphia an 87-78 advantage with 8:02 left.
Robert Horry's three-pointer cut Philadelphia's lead to 92-86
with 5:09 left. But Iverson's driving layup capped a 6-0 spurt
for a 98-86 lead with 3:29 remaining. Weatherspoon's dunk gave
the Sixers their biggest lead, 100-87, with 2:40 to go.
"It's been tough jumping out on teams and then they make their
run and we're not able to recover from it," Iverson said.
"Tonight we just played solid defense and took what they gave us
on offense and we were able to control the tempo."
Campbell scored 10 points in the first quarter, which ended at
26-26. Philadelphia had a 19-4 run over the first and second
periods, ending with Iverson's 17-footer for a 46-34 lead with
5:49 left in the first half.
Horry, who had nine points and nine rebounds, made a hook shot
to cut the deficit to 46-36 and trigger an 11-0 run. A layup by
Eddie Jones capped the burst and drew the Lakers within 46-45
with 3:24 left before halftime.
"They outrebounded us, that was key for them," said Jones, who
had 14 points. "They got their confidence early rebounding the
ball and getting easy transition baskets."
Van Exel made a three-pointer with 37 seconds to go and Los
Angeles took a 52-51 edge into halftime.

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- With a strong finish, the Philadelphia 76ers matched the best start in franchise history.
Allen Iverson and Theo Ratliff powered a third-quarter charge and the 76ers remained unbeaten by controlling the second half in a 107-98 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. At 8-0, the Sixers are the NBA's lone undefeated team. They tied the start of the 1979-80 squad, which featured Julius
Erving, Andrew Toney, Darryl Dawkins and current assistant coach Maurice Cheeks and reached the NBA Finals.
"It should mean a lot to them. I'm proud of my team," Sixers coach Larry Brown said. "I'm proud of the fact that we've had some injuries and we had a lot of guys step up and play well. We've played unselfishly, but it's eight games and we have to keep that in mind."
Philadelphia hosts Miami on Friday with a chance to break the club mark. The NBA record for best start is 15-0, shared by the 1949-50 Washington Capitols and the 1993-94 Houston Rockets.
"Everybody wants to be the first team that knocks us off," said Iverson. "Everybody wants to be that team. It's going to be tough. We have to really dig in and sneak some wins out of other teams' houses. For right know, I'm just living for the moment and I just hope it continues. I'm glad I'm a part of it."
Iverson scored 22 points, seven during an 18-0 surge that turned a five-point deficit into a 70-57 lead midway through the third period.
The Cavaliers missed eight straight shots during that stretch and Ratliff was a big reason. Saddled by foul trouble in the first half, the 6-10 center had three of his six blocks during the run. Ratliff also scored 15 points.
"He did a good job offensively but just his presence underneath caused them to miss some easy shots and get some 24-second violations," Brown said. "But he's always been that for us.
That's why we need him out on the court. We can't afford for him to get fouls and only play seven minutes in the first half. That's one of the reasons why we had a problem defending in the
first half."
"I was just doing the same old thing that I try to do every time I step out on the court -- to be that intimidating factor as far as when guys try to get easy shots and easy layups," Ratliff
said. "I let them know it's not going to be that easy.
Philadelphia got a big offensive boost from George Lynch, who scored a season-high 23 points and kept his team in the game in the first half. The defensive-minded forward had not scored
more than 10 points in a game this season.
"I like him to do the dirty work," Brown joked. "How many rebounds did he get? Just one defensive rebound so I have something to talk to him about. He did a lot of great things."
"I knew he was going to say that," Lynch said. "I had (Robert) `Tractor' Traylor on me. He's about 300 pounds to my 230 so he's gonna win that battle the majority of the time. ... The
team needed me to score some points the way we were going. I had the hot hand, some open looks and I was able to take advantage of them. I've had those looks all season, it's just I
was making the shots tonight."
Eric Snow contributed 13 and seven assists for Philadelphia, which was outshot and outrebounded but scored 29 points off 22 turnovers by Cleveland.
Former Sixer Clarence Weatherspoon scored 24 points, Robert Traylor added a career-high 17 and Zydrunas Ilgauskas 16 for the Cavaliers (6-2). The frontcourt trio thrived while Ratliff was
on the bench with foul trouble but got little help from the perimeter players.
"We let them dictate the play to us," Weatherspoon said. "We never got into a rhythm. They came after us and we just didn't match it. It's hard to come back on a team that has so many
scorers and plays a good half-court defense."
The Cavs have lost their last six meetings with the Sixers.
Cleveland came in an even bigger surprise than Philadelphia, winning six of its first seven games despite having no player averaging more than 14 points or nine rebounds per game. The
Cavs opened the third period with consecutive baskets for a 57-52 lead before the Sixers took control.
Iverson, who has yet to score 30 points in a game this season, made a jumper and layup around a 3-pointer by Lynch, giving Philadelphia the lead for good at 59-57 with 9:39 left.
After a block by Ratliff, Snow set up Ratliff for a dunk and hit a shot. Iverson snaked his way for a three-point play and Snow made two free throws for a 68-57 lead.
Ratliff blocked two more shots and Iverson found Lynch for a dunk that capped the outburst. Iverson scored nine points in the quarter, which ended with Philadelphia holding an 81-71 lead.
