With the CMCO 2.0, I spend more time at home. More time to spring clean, more time to declutter. And every time I look at my wardrobe, I see old clothes that I don’t wear anymore, and clothes that I don’t even remember having. I confess, I may have shopped too much, unnecessarily.
This video I would like to share, how I normally deal with my old clothes, without throwing them to 🗑
Few simple steps 🙂
1. Pick out the old / unworn clothes, as many as possible (with no mercy).
2. Make sure they are all clean and good in condition.
3. Fold and pack them up nicely.
4. Head to the organisations that could put these old clothes to good use!
BLESS Shop is one of them, they resell used clothes. And part of the profit goes to causes, like helping Myanmar refugees and drug rehab centres. They hire single mothers, Orang Asli and ex drug-rehab patients. For more information about them and where they are situated, please visit www.kedaibless.com
There are 2 others that I know in Klang Valley, which you can donate old clothes to as well.
1. Kloth Cares keeps unwanted fabrics away from landfills and have over 280 bins in various places for different kind of fabric collection - kloth.com.my
2. Kechara Soup Kitchen aims to provide sustenance and basic medical care for homeless and urban poor in Malaysia. They do accept unused or used clothes, raincoats, umbrellas, shoes, hats, etc for the underprivileged - https://www.kechara.com/soup-kitchen/about-us/
Happy recycling. Stay home, stay safe-safe.
P/S. Great to recycle, but lets also try to reduce! Every time when the urge to shop hits us, please ask ourselves, “Do I really need this? Don’t I already have something similar?” Easier said than done, but lets try, shall we all? ☺️

“A few months ago, I wondered how much of my plastic is really recyclable as I realised single-use plastics were more than shopping bags and straws.
So I decided to accumulate the single-plastics I used in my daily life. After several weeks’ worth of it, I contacted Vincent Chung, an ex-accountant turned recycling and upcycling entrepreneur who runs Artemis Space in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, that collects plastic waste from the surrounding community.
His assistant Kana Foo went through my collection and told me just about everything I had was not recyclable, at least not in Malaysia.
These included pantyliner fabric-cum-plastic backing, pill blister packs, aluminium-lined snack packets, food wrappers, cling film, clear plastic bags that contained new clothes, the packaging from courier companies (“The only thing that can be recycled is the paper with your name and address,” said Kana) and the glossy plastic from my Korean snail face masks.”
Shocking huh?

"Let's close the loop" in honor of World Recycle Week, by donating used or unwanted clothes to any branch of H&M all over the world, part of H&M's conscious actions for sustainability. By recycling clothes, we can reduce not only garbage in landfills but also waste produced by the manufacturing process itself as well as 2100 liters of water for every Tshirt produced! So what better time to raid those closets and head to your nearest H&M store. #worldrecycleweek #hmworldrecycleweek #reducewaste #recycle #doyourpart

How to MInimize Kitchen | Things I Never Buy
These are the five things I never buy for the kitchen mostly because there’s always an alternative that is free and I don’t have to buy them new. First are mason jars. Whenever I need a glass jar, I just look at my recycling crate and pick a used pasta jar and use that instead. Next are cleaning products, I mostly use soap and water, and if that doesn’t work, I ask Google for natural cleaning products, and it recommends using vinegar or baking soda. Instead of chip clips, I use binder clips or clothes pins. Instead of cling wrap, I put food in a sealed container and put it in a fridge. Last are appliances I don’t need which are (but not limited to) popcorn maker, soup maker, egg poacher, cupcake maker, and food dehydrator. These are products marketers tell us we need. But if we look closely, we already have these products in the form of a stove and an oven.

Lets all take a moment to recognize Jun for his outstanding accomplishment of supporting me without complaint while I shopped for clothes for 3 1/2 hours!
This is a special type of thrift store (古着屋/furugiya, meaning old 古 clothes 着 store 屋) known as mai shuu sagaru (毎週下がる). 毎 means "every" 週 means "week" and 下がる means "lowers." The price on all clothing items lowers every week through a set schedule. This type of thrift store is the lowest end where brand clothes that can't be sold in higher end thrift stores are taken, and all other inexpensive clothing are sent for the purpose of super quick resale. The lowest price in this particular 毎週下がる古着屋 is only ¥100 (~$1).
You will also see 毎週下がる written out partially or completely in katakana: マイシュウサガール.
The store in the video is the マイシュウサガール branch of 買取王国 (kaitori oukoku): http://okoku.jp/
I am an admitted thrift store shopaholic in both America and Japan! My family didn't have the money to buy me new clothes growing up so I began shopping at thrift stores for myself as a teen. I would say that 90% of my clothes, shoes, and accessories have come from these stores. I LOVE thrift stores because it is like treasure hunting and they're so cheap!! Japanese thrift stores are especially incredible because the clothes are almost all young and fashionable compared to America where in the low-end thrift stores you have to dig through a sea of old people things to find anything decent! Almost everything I've worn in all of my videos have come from thrift stores. :) "Thrifting" as it's called is also great since you're having a positive impact on the environment by recycling and avoiding purchasing new products. I highly encourage everyone visiting Japan to seek out a mai shuu sagaru thrift store! Don't be intimidated by the thought of small Japanese sizes--there are plenty of larger and baggy clothes to be found as well. :)
日本の古着屋さんが大好き!! ❤
