ทำไมถึงต้องถ่าย Log
คำตอบแบบสั้นๆเร็วๆคือ...
🎬เพราะ RAW มันหนัก
🎬เพราะสี Video มันจบหลังกล้อง
🎬Log เป็น non-destructive ด้านสี
คือใกล้เคียงกับสิ่งที่ image sensor บันทึกได้
ยังไม่ได้มีการปรุงแต่งอะไรในกล้อง
ที่เมื่อทำไปแล้วเอาคืนไม่ได้
🎬Log จึงเป็นทางสายกลาง
ในกรณีที่ต้องการทำโพสต์
ไม่อยากทำงานหนักเท่า raw
แต่แก้สีได้มากกว่าถ่ายเป็นสีวิดีโอ

แต่การถ่าย log ก็มาพร้อมกับ...
🎬workflow ที่ถูกต้อง
คือต้องมีการทำ online - offline
เพราะสีของ Log มันเอาไปตัดต่อแล้วคนจะงง
และการถ่าย Log มันต้องบันทึกด้วย bitrate ที่สูงขึ้น
ห้องตัดถึงแม้จะบอกว่าตัดไหว แต่จะไม่มีที่เก็บ
ไฟล์จะ original จะอยู่ที่ห้องโพสต์
ห้องตัดจะเก็บแค่ proxy
เวลาตัดต่อไม่ใช่ทุกกล้อง
หรือทุกฟุตที่ใช้ตัดจะเป็น Log
บ้างก็มาจากกล้องที่ถ่าย Log ไม่ได้
บ้างก็เป็นสี sRGB จากกราฟฟิก
ที่ต้องเอามาแปะบนภาพ
บ้างก็เป็น found footage ที่เป็นสี video
เราไม่สามารถเอาฟุตต่างระบบสี
มา cross dissolve ใส่กัน
หรือเอา CG สีวิดีโอมาแปะ
บน BG ที่เป็น Log ได้
ทีมถ่ายถ่าย Log เช็ต bitrate สูงมาอย่างดี
คนตัดจับแปลงเป็น codec เบา
ตัดเสร็จก็เรนเดอร์ส่งไปแก้สีทั้งแตกๆงั้น
🎬ความเข้าใจของผู้ปฏิบัติงาน
ถ่าย Log อ๋อต้องแก้สีอยู่แล้ว
ก็ถ่ายๆไปเลย wb ไม่ต้องปรับจากล้อง
อันนี้คือความเข้าใจผิดอย่างแรง
ขาดการ preview ที่ถูกต้อง
เช่น พอกดถ่าย Log
ทำไมภาพมันสว่างๆ อยากได้มืดๆ
ก็ถ่ายมามืดๆ ทั้งที่ preview ดูสี Log อยู่
พอเข้าโพสต์ noise ยับเลยทีนี้
Log มีตั้งหลายแบบ
โซนี่เองก็มี SLog2 กับ SLog3
เมื่อไหร่ควรใช้ SLog2
เมื่อไหร่ควรใช้ SLog3
ถ่าย Log แล้วเอ๊ะทำไมสีซีดๆ
หวังดี กลัวคนเอาไปทำงานต่อลำบากดึงสี
เลยเร่งสีจากกล้อง ถมสีบน Log ลงไปอีกที
ทำให้ color pipeline เสีย
คนตัดเอาทุกอย่างยำรวมกัน
แล้วพอสีโดดกลัวขายงานไม่ได้
ตัวคนตัดอาจจะปรับสีเอง
หรือโดนสั่งให้ปรับ
เพื่อส่งให้ผู้ใหญ่ดูก่อน
แล้วก็เรนเดอร์สิ่งที่ปรับแล้วนั้น
ส่งต่อให้คนแก้สีทำงานอีกที
โดยบอกว่า "เค้าช่วยปรับมาแล้ว
ปรับต่อได้เลย น่าจะเร็วขึ้น"

คนแก้สีก็ไม่เข้าใจ
บางทีเจอไฟล์ Log ก็บอกให้ทีมกล้อง
ปรับสีที่กล้องให้เยอะขึ้นตอนถ่าย Log
จะได้ปรับในโพสต์ได้ง่ายขึ้น
ซึ่งก็ผิดอีก

สรุปคือ ไม่ควรถ่าย Log ถ้าไม่พร้อมจริงๆ
การถ่าย Log ไม่ใช่ยาวิเศษ
ไม่ใช่กระแส หรือถ่ายเป็นแฟชั่นตามๆกัน
ถ้าทำแบบนั้น มันจะออกมาเละ
กว่าการถ่ายสีวิดีโอปรกติ
เพราะ....
ที่ bitrate หรือ bit depth เท่ากัน สีวิดีโอ
ไล่ระดับความสว่างได้เนียนกว่า Log
สีวิดีโอ Rec.709 ยังคงเป็นมาตรฐานกลาง
เราสามาถถ่ายเป็น Rec.709 ได้ทุกกล้อง
แล้วตัดต่อ cross dissolve ใส่กันได้ทันที
สีวิดีโอ Rec.709 ไม่ต้องการ preview
ไม่ต้องการอุปกรณ์เพิ่ม ทำงานสะดวก
ต้นทุนในการถ่ายทำถูกกว่า
ก็พิจารณาตามความเหมาะสมครับ
