Growing up as an Asian, I somehow believed that racism was just part of the package. Being called a “chink” and “gook” was nothing out of the ordinary. You just hoped that in time, things might get better. A memory I will never forget is walking home with my grandmother. I was around 8 or 9 years old at the time. We had to cut across the park in order to get home. I remember seeing a group of several teenagers sitting over the gate and already I felt fear knowing we had to pass them. Please just let us pass quietly, I thought. I can’t remember exactly what was said but rocks were thrown. My elderly grandmother hovered over me to protect me the best she could. She doesn’t speak much english but even then, she threw out all the swear words she knew. I was in shock. I remember peering under her armpit and I recognised one of the faces. She’s the sister of my big sister’s friend. She looked at me straight in the eye. She didn’t tell them to stop. A week or two later she would end up coming to my house to see my sister. My grandmother didn’t recognise her but I did. We put food on the table for her. Our parents did their best to protect us and give us the life they wanted for themselves, it’s time we protected them.
There is so much we can learn from the elderly. A the same time, they deserve even more care and attention because they are more vulnerable. Knowing they have become targets make me sick to the stomach. Those who prey on the defenceless are cowards. Words hurt yes, but the line is so badly crossed when lives of the elderly and women are taken. Call it for what it is. Hate crime.
Please don’t be silent. Speak out. Anti-asian violence is real and surging. Don’t just love our food, love us as a community. CALL OUT HATE. Our parents and grandparents didn’t have phones back then. We live in an age where we can capture live moments. We can spread awareness. We have a voice and we should be empowered to use it to protect those who are unable to.
Bad days don’t kill people. Racism and misogyny do.
Educate. Communicate. Stop hate.
Do not let regression happen when there is already so much work to be done. To my asian friends who are scared, heartbroken and angry, I stand with you. I love you. #stopasianhate #speakout

Day 16 of my MCO 2.0 workout. Ran solo around my neighbourhood as usual. Half way through my routine, my footsteps were hesitant.
Saw some crowd at the park nearby, some even gathered in pairs or in group. My heart sank with worries. So I took out my phone, raised it above my head and flagged this reminder to the residents.
Stood by the roadside for half an hour. Some just continued walking, some stared at me with different expression, some looked left, right, behind to check their distance with others.
Please stay safe during this period, for you and your loved ones, for our community and our country. I myself can do so little, but together we can make a difference.

Last Sunday, the wifey and I went for our first hike of 2021 and it was truly a S.A.D. because it was the last day of the school holidays and the kids got the day off! 😆 So it was just the two of us and we decided to explore the north portion of the Green Corridor.
We started our hike from Hillview MRT and made our way toward the Hillview Park condo. There’s a short trail running beside it which leads to the proper Green Corridor trail and once we got on it, the sight that greeted us was simply beautiful. Trees lined each side of the trail and they leaned towards each other in the middle to form a picturesque arch. Simply lovely! No surprise then we dallied here a fair bit to take loads of photos. (Not having the kids with us helped too) 😂
The entire route runs alongside Upper Bt Timah Road on the right, and MINDEF on the left. Surprisingly, there were practically nobody walking this route while we were there. Perhaps everyone was at the more popular Old Bt Timah Railway Station section. 😅 But this stretch is worth a hike for the lush greenery and peaceful surroundings. We ended our hike at Junction 10 (Choa Chu Kang Road) and the total distance covered was 1.8km. So it’s entirely doable for young kids too as it’s a linear route with no elevation or extremely muddy paths. Click on the last photo for the detailed map! 😊

Even though the cherry blossom season can get pretty chaotic, there are still plenty of lesser known places to see and enjoy cherry blossoms peacefully in Tokyo.
In this video I shared with you 5 spots you can visit, but honestly cherry blossoms are everywhere in Tokyo during spring so I would really recommend you to just have a little explore around where you are living/staying and you're bound to find some in your neighbourhood!!
You'll see cherry blossoms at parks, schools, lined down a street, along the rivers, etc etc they are literally everywhere so I challenge you to have a little explore near you and tag me on instagram if you find a little hidden gem near you ;)

⇢ Ikegami Honmonji Temple
⇢ Sakuranamiki Park (Local street lined with sakura)
⇢Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa (Japanese Garden)
⇢Meguro River (Avoid the crowds by getting off at Ikejiri-ohashi Station or Meguro Station)
⇢Kinuta Park
Here are some bonus places for those who read up to here ;)
⇢Senzokuike Park (This is near the 1st & 2nd place I went to as well)
⇢Tamagawa Gas Bridge Green Space (Cherry blossoms along Tamagawa River - nice place to have a stroll, cycle or run too)
⇢Kiba Park
⇢Kinshi Park and Sarue Park (Walking distance apart and you can see sky tree from here)
⇢Motosumiyoshi Station (There is a river right by Motosumiyoshi Station that has more than 150 cherry trees)

In the second episode of our Lombok travel adventure me and Patrick hike Indonesia's second tallest Volcano; Mount Rinjani.
Mount Rinjani is an active volcano standing at 3,726 m. It is a tough mountain hike filled with incredible landscapes and views.
This epic hiking adventure took 3 days of hiking up the mountain, camping on the tops of mountains and watching the most incredible sunsets and sunrises. It was a very difficult hike that we were not prepared for but it truly was a beautiful experience and travel adventure I won't soon forget.
I hope you are enjoying this backpacking adventure series in Lombok, stay tuned for more hiking vlogs and adventure videos!

Join me as I go on a photography adventure, hiking up the beautiful Guia Park to reach the perfect spot for sunset landscape photography.
This video is a behind the scenes look on how I capture landscape photos at sunset. Due to a storm the conditions were really perfect for landscape photography. This is why I rushed out to hike up this stunning view point to capture the sunset at Macau.
I hope you enjoy this photography vlog and hiking adventure. Please let me know if you would like to see more photography hiking adventures like this!
