Hera, Zeus' wife, was very jealous of Hercules. She tried all kinds of ways to kill him.

Hercules was a half man and half god hero. His mother was a mortal. His father was Zeus, the king of the gods. Hera, Zeus's wife did not like Hercules. She came up with a plan to kill Hercules. Hera helped an evil king design 12 Labors that Hercules had to complete. When Hercules had completed all the Labors, he would earn his immortality. In fact, Hera was convinced that one of the labors would kill Hercules. One of his tasks was to kill the Nemean Lion. The giant lion had huge teeth and skin that couldn't be pierced by arrows. But Hercules was stronger. He barehanded strangled the lion. After Hercules completed the 12 Labors, he took his place with the gods.
