Goodbye TVB 👋🏻

4 years ago, I left the familiar world I grew up in (my family, my friends, my job, my home...etc) 🇨🇦 to explore the unknown entertainment world in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 It was a big deal to quit my permanent teaching job, which many people wished for, said I was fortunate to have (and some thought it wasn't a good idea to resign from).

During these few years working in the Chinese entertainment industry as a TVB Artiste, I have gained so much experience, learned more about myself & the realities of this world, and even met a bunch awesome (and some not quite so awesome) people along the way, but it became clear to me that it was time to move on.

Do I regret quitting my stable job to move to HK? Nope.
If I could go back in time, would I still choose this path? Yup.
What am I planning to do? Focus on myself and people around me. Spend time working on my music 🎵, my math education content @mrfchung 👨🏻‍🏫, becoming Magnus Bane 🔮, workout more 💪🏻, train up on a number of areas of my life...etc. For now, the direction will shift from traditional media to content creator/online educator and hopefully explore the English entertainment world after a bit.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, been there for me, taught me, gave me opportunities, helped me and even those who tried to bring me down or betrayed my trust, because all of you helped shape me to be the person I am today.

I wish I could say a proper goodbye, and I will visit when it feels safer to do so, but for now, this is my farewell. #untilnexttime

雖然已經離開咗TVB，大家亦唔會再喺東張西望 👀 同Dolce Vita 🍷 入面見到我做主持，但係因為廣告嘅關係，呢排喺電視機入面見到我嘅機會應該更加高 😂

This is one of my favourite duets of all time and the lyrics (and the subtle things behind the song..etc) are very beautiful & meaningful. If you think of anyone while watching this video, I hope you can send it to them to let them know the impact they’ve had on your life.

I have liked For Good since the first time I heard the song and have always wanted to record a cover of it, but never quite found someone I thought would be the right person to sing this song with me. When I started cosplaying as Magnus and later came across the Edom scene in Shadowhunters, where the characters were potentially separating from each other forever, I knew this was it. Plus, there are other similarities between Glinda & Elphaba in Wicked and Alec & Magnus from Shadowhunters (feel free to comment to let me know what you come up with).

Doing a cover of this song while cosplaying characters from one of my favourite shows, I knew I had to go the extra mile. The amount of time and effort spent along with the things I had to learn, get and do to pull it off was kind of insane, but worth it at the same time (lost track of how many all-nighters were involved.

Round 2 of CovidCollabs!
This time, I got my buddy Desmond to duet with me. It took some time for us to decide on a song as male-male duets are rare and we wanted something with a positive message. Fortunately, Desmond introduced this awesome song to me and the rest was history! Those harmonies were so much fun to sing!

I’m sure many people are going through various struggles of their own during this tough time, some visible to others while some things are kept deep inside.This song helped me feel a strong sense of hope and motivated me to fight for a better future. Hopefully our cover can cheer you up and shine some hope into your life too!

Long time no cover! This time, I am glad to be able to cover this song with a long time buddy (Nelson) and a new friend (Leo). Lots have happened in the past few months and I’m sure many of us are staying at home much more often than we are used to. During these crazy times, I still wanted to create music and try to spread some joy, so I came up with the idea of doing CovidCollab with friends near and far! Got a few being planned right now, so hopefully those will be ready in the near future!
