The statuesque man that stood at 1.9m, was my grandfather. He truly was the epitome of being young at heart, the most free spirited person I know. He's a simply man with simple pleasures. He loved his food, his adventures in Chinatown, he loved cycling around Singapore hunting for good food for himself or for the family. He loved a simple game of mahjong. And above all of that he loved singing his Chinese Opera. When he was young, he ate just about everything. I cringe hearing his food adventures. From bats to baby mice to snakes to monkey. You say it, he's tried it! He cycled everyday of his life and was a lifelong foodie until DIABETES took away his simple pleasures in life. I remember the disappointment on his face when the family would all go out for dinner, and he'd be left at home. All he ever wanted was to be free. But diabetes took away all of that from him. First his toes, then his feet, then his leg, eventually his life. Diabetes isn't just about having unstable sugar level in your blood. It causes more complications than you can imagine, that will eventually rip you from your ability to be mobile, to spend time with your family. Please watch your diet and go for regular checkups! #letsbeatdiabetes #sp www.letsbeatdiabetes.sg
