I watched the first Toy Story movie when I was 12 years old. My friends and I loved it because the characters were cute and funny. I mean, toys that can move and come to life? That is something really creative.
Then came the sequel four years later in my secondary days. We got to learn more about Woody's background and I realised that just like us, each of the toys had a unique story to tell.
When Toy Story 3 came out in 2010, I had become a mum and was, well, a more emotional and knowing human being. It was incredible how much I could identify with this tear-jerking movie and that part where Andy became an adolescent and outgrew his childhood needs, it hit me really hard.
Last weekend, we caught the preview of Toy Story 4 and I can only say this has to be the BEST of the lot. It's heartwarming, funny, imaginative, nostalgic and sentimental all rolled into one. I love how Woody's ending was a sad yet happy one (watch it to know what I mean) and his love for his kid never fails to remind me on what it means to love unconditionally, never asking for anything in return. I mean, how many of can actually do that in real life? His loyalty, determination and unyielding love is something that truly inspires me.
Oh, and Bo Peep makes a comeback with a major role this time and I can only say her vallant, spunky personality in this new movie makes her almost on par with Woody as my favourite Toy Story character of all time. Girl power!
Many thanks to Disney for having us at the premiere. It was a great way to us to spend Father's Day, regardless if it was for the kids and I who are Toy Story fans or the hubby who had never watched any of the earlier movies. Yup, he enjoyed it much too which says a lot about the show.
Toy Story 4 opens in cinemas today. Trust me when I say it is a movie not to be missed. Just remember to have a tissue in hand too, okay?
