I was recently interviewed by Swedish press outlet Dagens Industri and also addressed this issue. The CCP’s everyday threat cannot become an all-day fear for the Taiwanese people. While we seek security cooperation with like-minded countries across the Indo-Pacific, we must always fulfill our security responsibilities to the best of our abilities before looking abroad.
To that end, we must invest more in national defense expenditures, be innovative in national security issues, support our armed forces, increase support and welfare for retired veterans, work on education opportunities for our non-commissioned officers, and frankly speaking, all of these issues need to be addressed today, not tomorrow.
